Jumping ahead from second tri here, because I think my problem seems waaay too early for my normal group - what can I say, maybe I'm just ahead of the curve? :-P Anyway, I hope no one else has this kind of discomfort but in case I'm not alone...
I hate my desk chair at work - not because of back pain but because of backside pain! The seat is killing me! Even though it's padded, after an hour or two it feels like I am sitting on a concrete block. I am not exaggerating when I say I have to stand up super slowly and let the blood flow back to my rear end before I can even move. I've had this chair five years, and it never bothered me before... It's not just my tailbone either but my entire backside! Ug...
Does anyone else have this problem? How did you fix it, if you did? Any recommendations for a pillow / padding I could try?
I was thinking of getting an off-brand memory foam pillow at Target and just sitting on that, but I didn't know if there was a better solution or something tailor-made for this problem...
Thanks again for your help!
Re: Office chair seat pads - suggestions?
YES! I'm miserable in my work chair. I think it's more the act of sitting so long than the actual chair, but I just ordered a memory foam seat cushion. It has helped a little. I was sitting on a pillow, but then realized that was hurting more than helping.
I got this one: https://www.amazon.com/Kensington-Memory-Foam-Seat-L82024/dp/B00006IDA3
Also try bringing in a heating pad and putting that on occasionally.
I having been using my miracle "donut" since the end of my first trimester because I too, sit the majroity of my workday and I have a good drive home as well. All chairs are uncomfortable unless I use my donut. I found mine at Walgreens and no, it's not the blowup one= I got the foam one which is ugly yellow and have put a pillow case over it so it's not so bad.
If I don't use it I pay for it severly when I get up out of chairs, and it was worth the 25.00! I use it whenever I'm out. the only time is when I'm at home on my couch and I can lay on my side and there is plenty of pillows and cushions to put around me!
