Ideal time for party for 5 y/os?

Obviously I have birthday parties on the brain. :)

What time would you prefer? 2:00 or 3:00? I'd say the napping ratio is about 50/50 at this stage. Hmm....

  • What are you serving? 3:00 brings you closer to dinner which is bad but less napping.

I'd serve real food at a 3pm party, for sure.  Probably hot dogs and chili and stuff like that.

  • DS will be turning 5 as well.  I'm going to have a party at 12 noon.  That time worked out great last year.  For those who nap, they still have time to do so.

To answer your question, though, I would vote for 3:00 pm., maybe the guests could take an early nap.

  • 3-5 or even 2:30 to 4:30.  I think 2pm can be hard.  My 4 1/2 year old still naps from time to time but my 6 year old has not napped in over a year.  On days that we have quiet time at home, we typically start it at around 12:30 or 1 and it lasts about an hour.  I have no issue adjusting it for things like parties or skipping it altogether at this point but 2pm still seems to break into some of our plans where even stating 30 mins later helps a lot but in the big picture - I don't think it really matters that much - it is only an hour.
