NICU Reunions

Do you have plans to attend your NICU reunion? When does your NICU usually have their reunions? What kind of activities do they normally have for the children?

We are attending our 3rd NICU reunion this coming weekend, it's across the street from the hospital at a nearby community college. It's a rain or shine event (which I was hoping they could have this event indoors). Last year they served burgers, hot dogs, chips that kind of things. They a face painting, moon bounce, balloon maker and a few bean bag toss.  They also request that each parent send then and now pictures of their little ones and they put those pictures up on a slideshow.

Re: NICU Reunions

  • Our NICU doesn't have any reunions that I'm aware of. They do have a monthly parent social, though.

Our NICU recently started reunions, but they don't invite you until the LO(s) are at least 3 years old (personally I think that's lame, but there isn't a lot we can do about it).  Last I heard they were doing it at a local zoo.  We plan to go once she's old enough, and in the meantime we take her back for visits occasionally.

Wow really?? That's lame to wait that long.

  • Yes we are definitely going to ours.  We have two since my twins spent 5 weeks in one hospital and then transferred and spent the last 5 weeks at a different hospital.  They are both in October.  Still waiting on the invite for the 2nd NICU but the first one is doing a  Halloween theme with costumes for kids, face painting, trick or treating.  I'm looking forward to it.  I love the idea of the then and now slide show that your NICU does!
  • I just found out our NICU is having a reunion next month, but we will be out of town that weekend. I am upset we are going to miss it :( but we just recently went to visit for my twins' 1st birthday and got to see a lot of their nurses.

  • Our does one- it is a Halloween theme party in mid October.  Last year it was at a Forest Preserve (inside).  They had a catered buffet with kid friendly foods, a bounce house, cookie decorating, pumpkin decorating, other craft activities.  They also have a photobooth- which is awesome.
  • We have ours each year the same day as March of dimes. We all do the walk together and they have a section for CHOC at the end with food, crafts and games. It was so much fun last year and we plan on doing it again.
