Beta Question - Updated!

I started to update on the check in but then I felt I was getting all crazy, had some questions and didn't want to spoil the beautiful visions of pumpkin lattes of talking about Fall, etc. by hijacking the post

Got our Beta #2 results back - Beta is 346, Progesterone is 12 and Estrogen is 132. I was walking home from jury duty (ack!) - I should have let the call go to VM as I couldn't hear well but the PA said that the Beta is rising nicely (B#1 was 68 last Wed). My last Prog was 17 - she said not too worry - prog rises and falls throughout the day and 12 is normal for a "spontaneous" pregnancy (this was a post HSG/pre IUI BFP so I'm seeing an RE). Then she said "(but) the doctor wants me to come in Thursday for an ultrasound." The "but" is in parenthesis because I *think* she said it - I'm not sure - but it changes the meaning of the sentence to suggest a problem or concern. I was expecting that an Ultrasound was the next step but based on others, I figured it would be next week - closer to 6weeks (Thurs will be 5w3D). Of COURSE the office is closed so I have to wait until tomorrow to get clarity.

Am I being paranoid? MrsNukem & Petra, are your Betas higher bc of IVF? We have the same EDD (Petra you're a day earlier). I'm feeling the same about the Ultrasound - why so early?

Am I looking into something because I'm a masochist?

UPDATE: I spoke with office this morning - I could feel her rolling her eyes through the phone while she told me to chill out and not worry!

ELF - you're exactly right - she said my Dr wanted me in for an early u/s to check the yoke sack and confirm where it is. She reminded me that I was seeing an RE so he requires patients to come in early. She said that after this first u/s I'll need to come back to check for h/b and then they kick me out and send me to an OB.

Mrs.Nukem - your calculations are totally right on my beta doubling. I think for some reason I was caught up on my progesterone number - from TTC>35 many women were taking supplements if prog was too low to avoid miscarriage so I think I got a little nervous.

Thank you all for your responses - they were very supportive and kept me sane until the call today.

Because implantation can happen anytime between about 5dpo and 11the dpo, having the same EDD doesn't mean your betas would be similar. As long as they are rising properly, don't worry. My RE always does the first us at 5w3d, to look for the gestational sac and possibly a yolk sac. They will likely have you come back about a week later to look for the hb. Good luck!

It all depends on when implantation happened. I'm pretty sure my implantation happened earlier as opposed to later. I'm a big control freak and still temped during my IVF cycle. Even on progesterone injections my body temp was low as usual. Then it took a big jump on 7dpo so I'm pretty sure my implantation occurred at 6dpo which is pretty early I think. Assuming your embie implanted later in the cycle then your beta would be lower. Also take into account I could have twins in me, which is quite possible.

Did you just have the blood draw for beta #2 today? I plugged in your numbers into beta base assuming your blood draw was today and got a doubling time of 51 hrs, so that is within the 48-72 hr doubling time, so try not to worry (easier said than done I know). They may want to do an ultrasound early to look for the sac and also to make sure the embryo is in your ute and not your tubes. Hang in there! (I know this whole process is so nerve wracking)

Try not to over think it! I know easier said than done. My RE had me come in early too just to see if they could confirm the sac was in my ute as mrs nukem said so that's probably what they're doing.

I'm glad you are doing better today. I'm sure nurses are used to the overbearing pregnant ladies who freak out about everything (that would be me!). Let us know how the u/s goes! If you are concerned about your progesterone, you can ask your RE what he thinks about putting you on extra progesterone for peace of mind.

How are you feeling overall? Any symptoms? I am starting to freak myself out again b/c I really have no symptoms, I don't feel pregnant at all. My sore boobs comes and goes. With my first pregnancy, I distinctly remember having really sore boobs at this point, and right now I don't really feel anything. I keep wondering if my embryo(s) are still growing or have they stopped developing? Ugh, I hate this insecurity.

I feel different but pretty good. My boobs are bigger - I felt they got big fast and were tender, but like you, now they feel fine (but still big). I do feel some tingling or mild cramps (not cramps but just *something*) but no pain. No spotting which reduces my stress by a mile. I am exhausted all the time and need naps as soon as I get home from work. Do I wish I had about 5 minutes of morning sickness to confirm to me? Yes. would I regret wishing that as soon as it happened? of course!

So I feel something but not much. Getting that Beta yesterday was a sigh of relief - it's been a whole 6 days since your last check in, right? That must be a killer for you but that's what's probably driving you crazy. Dare I say POAS or is that enabling? Do not worry - you are doing great!

The wait is driving me crazy. I'm so used to having something to do (go to appointments, another blood draw etc.). I've thought about POAS again but I will just overanalyze how dark or not so dark the line is and freak out again. I can't win! I go in on Thursday for another blood draw to check my estrogen levels and I asked for another beta to ease my mind.

Your ticker looks great! I will live vicariously through you for a bit. I'm still posting the check-ins on the IF board and it's probably tacky for me to keep posting there with a ticker, so I'll wait a bit. At least I'll be able to gauge how big my embie is through your ticker, LOL.
