I was on labetalol due to preeclampsia and am 7 weeks postpartum. My HBP has not resolved. My OB discharged me and sent me to my regular family doctor to manage the blood pressure issue. He suggested Enalapril 5 mg.
Has anyone else taken this while breastfeeding? Enalapril is also called Vasotec. I believe it is category L2, but I'm not positive. I wanted to check Hale's as a refernece but I don't have a login to do so. Does anyone have one that would be willing to check it for me?
Thanks in advance for sharing your experience.

I was on Procardia PP. Given that I was breastfeeding, I wanted to make sure that it was safe. I talked with my OB as well as my PCP, pharmacist and pediatrician. And collaboratively we were told that it was safe.
Can you give a call to your LO's pediatrician? Or, even if you have a local ISIS near you. They typically have lactation consultants even that hospital themselves do that may be able to share their knowledge over what medications are safe and which are not and then you could discuss what they share with your doctors.

The labetalol made me feel too dizzy, foggy and "out of it" to drive or be able to go back to work. My OB told me that I should ask my GP about other BP meds that were ok for breastfeeding because she didn't know. I checked Kellymom, lactmed, AAP and spoke with the pharmacist as well. I didn't take it lightly.
5 MG is working very well and I don't see any change in baby. I just wanted to check Hale's but couldn't without a login (which I don't have), and wanted the reassurance of shared experiences if there were any. Thanks to those who answered.
I hope I only need the medicine for a short while, but I believe that even having to take bp medicine, breastmilk is still better.
