Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

If your child has a wide foot...

where do you buy his/her shoes?

I've purchased her shoes at Stride Rite but they are so dam expensive! Her sneakers were $46! And because they are so expensive I only buy one pair that serves as her shoes for all occassions.

I'd prefer to shop somewhere a little more affordable. Any suggestions?

  • Stride Rite but only during sales...they recently had a BOGO sale for Labor Day so maybe check on the holidays and definitely Black Friday which I know is still a couple months away so it won't help you now but I remember they had good deals last year. Also, 6pm.com and Amazon both sell Stride Rite shoes a little cheaper, although last I checked 6pm they only had limited sizes.

  • I just purchased TOMS for my kids and they fit really nicely. He was just sized as a 7.5 extra wide! the Toms were on amazon for about $25.

I also find stride rite and pedipeds on sale. I just got him some stride rite tennis shoes for $22 on sale and found some pedipeds on amazon for $30.

  • Payless has 'wide' sizes so I get her dressy shoes and hard sole shoes there. She can still wear soft sole shoes too that are pretty stretchy so I buy those at Wal-Mart. I'm cheap, I guess. LOL.
  • Shop the sales!!  My DS has an XW foot so we buy a lot of Stride Rite, some Pediped and See Kai Run (they both run wider), and New Balance.

Find shoes you like on Zappos then search for them on Amazon for a better deal.

  • My Girl has very chubby feet. I buy on Payless, mainly BOGO sales, or Value Priced (which are almost always on sale). We live in hot weather, and i buy her a lot of sandals that are with velcro in the front so you can adjust the wide, so also if weather permits you could do this.
  • We do stride rite outlet. I have not tried Payless but I will after what other said. We actually found a pair of dress shoes at target, but we tried on like 6 pair till we found one that worked.

  • DS is extra wide and we mainly stick to Stride Rite.

Look on Craigslist. You can find great deals on slightly used Stride Rite shoes. I recently found a pair of nearly new Stride Rites for $5.

  • I was going to suggest the same as pp. We have a Stride rite outlet I go to for DS's shoes. I got his last pair for 20. It's a bit of a drive for us, but worth it for the savings. They have Carter's and Osh Gosh outlets at the same place.

  • I just got LO 3 pairs of Stride Rite shoes on ebay for $32 total.  They are barely worn.

  • DD has about 10 pairs of shoes, all stride rite brand in wide. We buy them only on sale at the outlet and have never paid more than $10 even for boots. You can also do the survey for $5 off your next purchase. We take that discount and combine BOGO offers with only sale items. If you shop around, you can find them really cheap. We like Mary Janes here and those avg $7 when I'm shopping. Zulily also carried the Rachel brand (stride rite) and those are around $12 on there, mostly Mary Janes too. I think totsy is the other deals site that carry them cheaply.
  • I found my son's wide Stride Rite's on Totsy. I'll probably buy the next size up when I see them again.
