Yes! My DS has been this way since birth 5 weeks. I have to continually rub his cheek or scalp to keep him awake enough to eat. Major bonus is that he often falls asleep easily afterward, so nights with him have been relatively easy.
Also, I've read that babies sleep when nursing because of the oxytocin that is released from breast feeding.
Yes this happens with my little girl, try swaying or bouncing while you burp in over the shoulder position, or even laying them on your chest and burp lightly until they fall asleep. She usually starts dosing off again.

Yes! Mine loves the sucking reflex and that is what helps him fall asleep. I have just started giving him a pacifier after he's well fed and burped and that seems to do the trick. I don't know how I feel about the pacifier just yet though... but for now its working well.
