I was just reading a "what to pack for the hospital if you're having a c-section" article and they mentioned packing a loose-fitting dress to wear home from the hospital instead of pants, which can still rub against the incision.
What did you wear?

Def pants. You'll be coming home with a pad against your incision and mesh undies - you need the waistband to hold things together. Get something with a nice, wide band to hold your pad against your incision - leaving the hospital it was nice to just have a comfortable pair of Hanes, as you're wearing a pad and have one under your waistband. It was nice to have some supportive stretchy pants to keep things in place.
I wore a black maternity dress (same one I wore into the hospital, it was taken home and washed, though). It was much more comfortable for me than pants. I'm a dress person, though. I hate wearing pants.
My first I had a dress, and had to disrobe completely right before we were wheeled out b/c DD wanted to nurse. This time I wore pants. And I hated those mesh panties and never needed a pad against my incision.

I wore full panel Maternity pants that had a lycra-type panel (not the loose-draw string style) to keep snug against the belly area.
Ditto PP about needing support for your underroos. I bought some 100% cotton Hanes high waisted-full coverage granny undies that came up past my belly button. Hideous, but oh, so comfy.
The mesh undies at my hospital had zero support in the tummy area and I needed the maxi pad over my c/s incision for the first several days. I tried going without the belly maxi and the medi-strips kept getting pulled on by my clothing.
Yoga pants, nursing tank, and a zip up hoodie. The post partum area of the hospital was freezing, and the NICU was a sauna. So I was very glad to have layers.
TTC#1 since Mar 2008. Serious MFI due to cancer.
3 cancelled IUI's, just about every test in the book.
IVF#1 - BFP! Twin girls arrived 2/5/10 at 35w2d.
