Last bottle, nursing, or milk for dinner?

What do I do? In the last 2 weeks Bo has seemed to drop his last nursing session which was at 7:30 or 8:00 pm! If he nurses it will be for only a few minutes and just want to play!

Tonight we just tried milk with dinner and he went to bed just fine.

Should I be giving a last bottle of milk, or continue to nurse?

  • I should add does he need the nutrients of the last bottle or nursing session? He does not get anywhere close to 2 cups of WCM and I still nurse him 45 times a day. It is just the last nursing or bottle feed of the day!

  • As long as he is getting nutrients from other sources (solids) then he no longer needs the nutrients from nursing! and if you are still nursing 45 times a day, I wouldn't worry AT ALL about it. Smile

  • I agree with PP. Hes getting plenty of nutrients. Oh, and once again, I hate bump mobile. You nurse 45 times a day as opposed to 4 to 5.. Ahhh!!

  • Ugh! Yeah! 45 times a day I nurse him??? Haha! He is starting to gesture at my chest when he wants to eat! I am confused! Is he hungry? Is it comfort? Looks like it is time to look into weaning and WCM transition scholarly sources! Any suggestions?

  • Cracking up over here! I took "45 times a day" to be an exaggeration, like he nurses constantly haha

  • I agree - he does not need the nutrition so don't worry about that.  Also, I thought, per kellymom.com, that 2 cups of cow milk (16 ounces) is the max amount of dairy.  So keep doing whatever works for you!
