Is anyone still using your infant carseat?

We are. We have the Britax Chaperone, and I was waiting for DH to get home to look for a convertible. But then we found out about this course and he left before we had a chance to look. She still fits within the perimeters for the safety but she's getting close the max height. I have been looking but I'm overwhelmed. Part of me wants to wait until DH gets home, but that's 6 more weeks away.

I know this has been asked a bazillion times, but which carseat do you have? Or if you're still looking, which one are you looking at? I like the Britax Marathon or Boulevard because I want something with those side wings for her head. But I don't love the price. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Oh and anybody I missed that replied to my "Hello!" post and I didn't respond, thank you! Once it got low on the first page I didn't think anyone woud read it again. But thank you for all the well wishes and compliments! They mean the world to me.

Re: Is anyone still using your infant carseat?

  • Li isnt even close too the max weight in it, but we switched her over a while ago because she likes being able to sit up as opposed to only being able to recline. it's annoying having to switch her from the car seat to the stroller, but she's happier now.
Eta: we have the Orbit, it is so the infant seat we had..: we love it.

  • We just switched out a little over a week ago.  LBB still fits in the infant seat, but his new room at daycare doesn't have space to keep the carseat inside, and although most parents just leave the carseat in the hallway I thought it was a good excuse to switch.

We got the Reccaro Pro-Ride and he adores it.  Short trips (within a mile) he spends the entire time laughing.  Any trip longer than a mile he falls asleep - it's like magic.  He couldn't even stay awake for the 3 miles to synagogue tonight.

We ordered ours from Babyviva.com - it was on sale for almost $100 off, free shipping and it comes from Miramar so it got to us within 2 days.

  • We just switched last week. I had a hard time choosing, but we went with an Evenflo Triumph 65. It was on sale at Target plus free shipping.

  • DS is still in the infant seat. He is nowhere close to the height or weight requirements. DH's work bought us the Britax Boulevard so we will use that. I have been thinking about switching him because I can see him trying to look out the windows, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

  • DD is still in her infant car seat, but her new one should be here next week.  We went with the Britax Boulevard.  It was pretty much a toss up between that and the Marathon, but on Amazon the price difference was only $33 and the added head support looked more comfy.

We tried out several other seats but were very limited as most didn't fit well RF in our car (04 Subaru Forester).  We tried the Graco myRide, 2 of the Evenflo seats and the Safety 1st complete air.  None of them really fit and the Britax seats were just easier to use and secure properly and really seem to be made better.  The price for the Marathon on amazon is $216 and the Boulevard is $235, both with free shipping.

Good luck!   I had also put this decision off for so long because it was too overwhelming!

We have the Evenflo Symphony 65 3-in-1. I like it a lot. Very easy to install, adjust, use, etc. It has the e3 or whatever it is side impact stuff. It converts RF to FF to booster, and has pretty high limits for each. I got it for around $150.

We have this one as well (one for each car). At the rate DD is going with her weight, she will still be in the booster seat when she learns to drive !

  • We are still using our Chicco Keyfit.  Olivia is little and we could probably get several more months out of it.  I think we are going to go with the Diono Radian after but we aren't totally sure yet.  I also like Peg Perego convertible.

  • LO is still in her chaperone. We have 1.5 inches and about about 8 pounds to go. She weighted 20lbs at the 9 month appt. We are going to the Britax with the head wings that you are calling them. LO has used one before and when she falls asleep her head doesn't fall to far on the side. I'm waiting another month or two and seeing if their website has any close out prices on the older model since they just released a new one. Plus the weight goes up to 75lbs forward facing, so you probably won't need to get a booster seat for a while.
  • We are.  She is 5" and 15 lbs from the max for her seat so when she gets closer to one of those we will switch.

  • Thanks everyone! I'm glad to know I'm not the only one still using the infant seat. Thanks for all the suggestions for the convertibles. As terrible as this is, I'd like to get the cowmooflage in the britax so they match when we have another baby! Haha. I'll have to keep looking but thank you!

  • We are still using our Britax Chaperone...it's awesome cow print like yours! Haha! Out of our three carseats, she likes the Britax the best. The other ones we have are the Graco MyRide, which I absolutely hate......and a cheap Costco brand one from Walmart, that was a spare from my old nanny kids.....she likes that one. We will be purchasing a Diono Radian RXT or another Britaxfor her new seat.

  • DS is still in his infant seat, but I did buy the next one up.  I went with the Graco Classic Ride 50.

  • My DD is also still in her cow print chaperone!  We will probably be going with the radian when she outgrows it.  We have a Britax Roundabout for DH's vehicle and the leg room is terrible!
