Re: Waiting to adopt check-in 09/17
1) Private Domestic, we are open to siblings, anything under the age of our youngest (4 years old).
2) Waiting for a match! (13 months of waiting thus far.)
3) Nope, but I haven't gone crazy waiting. That's always a plus.
4) Good, I'm not very hopeful about adoption. Since we have bio kids, we aren't the typical family that gets chosen.
5) I feel like I'm modern but classic too. I'll try to attach some of the kids, but I'm still learning how to work attachments! If it doesn't work, heres a link: https://houseoflovelock.com/?p=2888
Love, love, LOVE the knit shirt your daughter is wearing on the far right. Adorable.

I like a little whimsy and a little hipster. I have been collecting inspiration pins on pinterest. Here's a favorite:

Laparoscopy scheduled December 2013
1) What kind of adoption/fostering are you doing? Ages?
IA; Uganda; younger than DS
2) In what phase of the process are you?
Waiting STILL for our 171. I don't like the whole heart thumping as I walk to the mailbox (yes RIGHT after the mailman comes) and the letdown every day.
3) Any recent accomplishments or milestones to celebrate?
Sold $50 worth of jewelry for the adoption on Friday - including my first Etsy sale to a total stranger - yaaaaay!
4) How are you feeling this week?
Irritated with the yoyo hoping. I want to like our mailman but I'm kind of resenting him right now! I'm sure we'll be best friends just as soon as he brings this piece of paper that we REALLY WANT BRING IT NOWWWWW. ahem.
5) QOTW: What's your kid style sense? Love anything cutesie? Soft and whimsical? Bright and Bold? Preppy? Anything with Disney characters on it? Post a picture(s) if you please!
I don't know if I do, really. My mom got E some flannels last Christmas and I died he was so cute in them. 95% of DS's clothes are hand-me-downs, so I suppose that may be why I don't. I mostly like for him to wear things that go with the creaminess of his skin and his beautiful blue eyes. I can't wait to but Baby A in bright colors that pop against that rich black Ugandan skin so beautiful I can't wait!
Application approved Dec '11
Mar '12: Homestudy interrupted by change in Uganda requirements - where do we go from here?
After searching and searching, back with Uganda but with our homestudy agency's program.
Homestudy complete July 19
USCIS I-600A submitted July 20. Biometrics appointments arrived Aug 17; fingerprinted Aug 21; 171H received Sept 25th. On the wait list Oct 1st: #18. By Jan 25th, we're #13!
Come home, baby A!
1) What kind of adoption/fostering are you doing? Ages? : domestic infant adoption
2) In what phase of the process are you? : saving/waiting to apply to the agency
3) Any recent accomplishments or milestones to celebrate? : we made up a schedule of all of our pre-adoption house projects AND put a date on the calendar to submit our application to the agency - January 2!
4) How are you feeling this week? I'm feeling pretty good - I'm starting to stress about what direction to take once I graduate in May, it's so hard to plan for anything when we don't know where in the adoption process we'll be at a given point in the future!
5) QOTW: What's your kid style sense? : I like simple, classic and modern stuff. Solids, prints (stripes, polka dots, etc.) in bright (but not primary) colors. I'm not into super frilly, character clothing, glitter, bows, etc.1) What kind of adoption/fostering are you doing? Ages? Domestic Infant Adoption
2) In what phase of the process are you? Halfway through our home study
3) Any recent accomplishments or milestones to celebrate? We're at least 75% done with all our home study work we have to do outside of our time with our SW. I thought for sure it was going to take a lot longer than it has. We are just plowing through it like maniacs!
4) How are you feeling this week? I'm waivering. One minute I'm super pumped and excited, the next my fear of the unknown is taking over and I'm discouraged. It's been a rough week on so many levels; not just adoption-related.
5) QOTW: What's your kid style sense? Love anything cutesie? Soft and whimsical? Bright and Bold? Preppy? Anything with Disney characters on it? Post a picture(s) if you please! I have honestly have no idea. I'm not big on frilly stuff and bows and all that. Really not a huge fan of Disney characters either. I'd say rather preppy if I had to choose. I haven't given it much thought???:::Our Adoption Journey:::
Evan James was born 1/24/13 and matched with us 2/20/13. The LOVE OF MY LIFE!!!
1) What kind of adoption/fostering are you doing? Ages? Foster-to-Adopt or Adoption from Foster Care... 0 - 6yrs
2) In what phase of the process are you? Waiting for our background clearances and two references.... And for our "temporary" houseguests to move out (biggest hurdle). So, we're in the praying for a breakthrough part.
3) Any recent accomplishments or milestones to celebrate? Just found out that my employer is adding an "Adoption Assistance Benefit" for 2013. That's pretty exciting!!
4) How are you feeling this week? Longing to have a child that we can raise in our house
5) QOTW: What's your kid style sense? Love anything cutesie? Soft and whimsical? Bright and Bold? Preppy? Anything with Disney characters on it? Post a picture(s) if you please! I guess preppy and colors that pop... which is hilarious because I don't dress preppy at all. But I love a little polo with a pair of jeans on a little boy. Little button-up sweaters. Pair of khakis. Not a fan of characters or cutesie.
July - Nov 2011: Testing with OB... OB said everything looks good
March - Sept 2012: Moved to RE.. 4 treatment cycles - responses of one or no follicles

3) Any recent accomplishments or milestones to celebrate? Looked at two day cares, made a photobook on shutterfly to show the kids, working on cleaning out the house
4) How are you feeling this week?Mostly excited. I was dissapointed when the children's SW cancelled her visit with the children. We are still waiting on a picture and some more information.
5) QOTW: What's your kid style sense? Love anything cutesie? Soft and whimsical? Bright and Bold? Preppy? Anything with Disney characters on it? Post a picture(s) if you please!1) What kind of adoption/fostering are you doing? Ages?

4) How are you feeling this week?
I am feeling at peace. amazing how things upset me before do not even matter. as crazy as I am I would take another infant if they called again. DH is on the fence.
5) QOTW: What's your kid style sense? Love anything cutesie? Soft and whimsical? Bright and Bold? Preppy? Anything with Disney characters on it? Post a picture(s) if you please!

Domestic newborn
2) In what phase of the process are you?
Waiting to be matched

5) QOTW: What's your kid style sense? Love anything cutesie? Soft and whimsical? Bright and Bold? Preppy? Anything with Disney characters on it? Post a picture(s) if you please!
I don't really know. I am not a big frilly person, so I doubt I would be in to that. I like animals and tend to like clothes that have animals on them. Especially little onesies with animals.
5) QOTW: What's your kid style sense? Love anything cutesie? Soft and whimsical? Bright and Bold? Preppy? Anything with Disney characters on it? Post a picture(s) if you please!
For boys I like little preppy to an extent. Khakis pants with polo's, solid t-shirts, stripes, plaid. Nice clean cut shoes, earth tone flip flops. I am NOT a fan of Disney character clothing. For girls I like anything girly that's fashionable!! So pretty much everything....well except the gigantic bows and super fluffy tutus. I also like modern looks for both girls and boys. And I absolutely love Mason Disick's look from Keeping Up With the Khardasians.

I've been lurking long enough -- time to come out of hiding!
1) What kind of adoption/fostering are you doing? Ages?
International Adoption from Democratic Republic on Congo, 0-2 years
2) In what phase of the process are you?
Collecting home study documents
3) Any recent accomplishments or milestones to celebrate?
We turned in DRC Step 1 last week! (It's a unique first step in the Congo process. Basically, it sends some pertinent info ahead of us.)
4) How are you feeling this week?
Good! We set a goal for completing all of our home study paperwork, and I think it's doable!
5) QOTW: What's your kid style sense? Love anything cutesie? Soft and whimsical? Bright and Bold? Preppy? Anything with Disney characters on it? Post a picture(s) if you please!
My MIL and mom LOVE to buy clothes for our girls, so we are at their mercy
They have great taste, so I love it!
Thanks, me too! It's Stella McCartney that I wanted forever ago, but it was too expensive. Then I ended up finding it at thrift store in LA last month for a steal! What are the chances?!?
1) What kind of adoption/fostering are you doing? Ages?
Domestic Infant Adoption
2) In what phase of the process are you?
Waiting to be matched
3) Any recent accomplishments or milestones to celebrate?
Slowly working on getting the nursery together so we can "wait well". Have the crib together and opened the bedding - no mattress yet.
4) How are you feeling this week?
Each day is different. Trying to keep positive despite some unknowingly hurtful comments.
5) QOTW: What's your kid style sense? Love anything cutesie? Soft and whimsical? Bright and Bold? Preppy? Anything with Disney characters on it? Post a picture(s) if you please!
Since we don't know the gender yet, I am trying to stick to neutral clothes - which is hard to find cute stuff in. Right now, I am having fun with the funny and/or adoption related ones:

1) What kind of adoption/fostering are you doing? Ages? Domestic Infant
2) In what phase of the process are you? BM is due any day now!
3) Any recent accomplishments or milestones to celebrate? The BF finally got in touch with the place where he needs to go to sign paperwork and I think he may have gone in this afternoon to sign the consent!
4) How are you feeling this week? I am feeling super excited and anxious. BM had some contractions over the weekend but they went away. We think any day now though. Also very relieved/happy that the BF is finally taking steps towards his part!
Hi. I don't think I've ever posted in the check-in before, but the waiting is starting to get to me!
1) What kind of adoption/fostering are you doing? Ages? Domestic infant adoption with a local agency.
2) In what phase of the process are you? We are home study approved, waiting to be matched, and are currently being seriously considered by an expectant mother.
3) Any recent accomplishments or milestones to celebrate? We have our six-month homestudy re-up tomorrow, so hopefully we can celebrate passing that (aka having working smoke detectors)
4) How are you feeling this week? Stressed. I get kind of spazzy when we're being presented.
5) QOTW: What's your kid style sense? Love anything cutesie? Soft and whimsical? Bright and Bold? Preppy? Anything with Disney characters on it? Post a picture(s) if you please! I like bright colors and I tend to veer into hipster land. I'm trying to avoid licensed characters, but if we end up having a girl, I can't guarantee I will be able to resist the Hello Kitty.
Glad you came out of hiding! :-)

DH & I love Disney, so Disney stuff will be a must. I also got the cutest sock monkey outfit a few months ago!
1) What kind of adoption/fostering are you doing? Ages? Adopting from foster care, 0-3ish
2) In what phase of the process are you? Very beginning, researching and reading. I contacted 2 agencies listed on DSS website but they both said they do not handle waiting child adoptions.
3) Any recent accomplishments or milestones to celebrate? I'm reading The Connected Child which I'll definately be buying once we get further in the process.
4) How are you feeling this week? Pretty great we are leaving for vacation on Friday!!

Affordable lol - gifts, hand-me-downs, Garanimals, Carters. This is a pic of DS on our first cooler day wearing his fall clothes - kind of an athletic style!
2 waiting to be licensed, all paperwork completed and submitted
3 confirmation letter for our PRIDE training and a call from our cw about a 1 year old boy they want to place with us! Once our background checks clear, we will get to meet him.
4 feeling hopeful and excited
5 no kids yet, room is decorated blue, green and yellow. If we get this little boy, clothing style would probably be on the preppy side. No Disney characters or other "cartoony" stuff.
