My daughter will be 14-months old in January, and in February she qualifies as a toddler in the eyes of her day care, so she should be transitioning into the toddler class at 15 months, however, they do not have any room in the toddler class until June, which means my daughter will be socializing solely with infants for four or five months before she can get into the toddler class. While there are three other kids her age who will also be staying in the infant class as a result of this space issue, I'm concerned that playing with "babies" while she is a bit older will delay her development. It seems that the toddler class does so many more age-appropriate activities (singing, building, etc) that she would be missing out on. I can't find any input on this from the internet, as it's quite a strange topic to Google search, but I'd love anyone's input who has been in a similar situation or has an opinion on the matter! I don't want to have to find another day care because I really love the toddler program at this one, but if I have to, I will.
Thanks!
Re: Socializing: Older Kids vs. Younger Kids
I totally agree with the above. I would make sure that the teacher was making sure to have developmentally appropriate activites/things to do with them. If they weren't providing developmentally appropriate care then I would look else where.
