So it appears that a raccoon has moved into my attic. I have heard strange noises for 3 days- so yesterday I made my Dh go up there to see WTF is going on- yep he found some poop. So today some dude is coming to trap the little F-er. I loathe raccoons, oppossums, and squirrels. Sure they look all cute- but they are so mean.
Re: Just F-ing great.
Ugh. I hope they trap it quickly.
Raccoons are nasty vile things.
BFP #2 5/27/12. EDD 2/1/13. m/c and D&C 6/21/12.
Oh no!!!! I don't mind them too much in the yard & such, but we have a big greenbelt behind us. I would HATEHATEHATE if they moved in!
Also, it's a birthing season I think. So, make sure they check every possible hiding place & that they seal up any & ALL possible entry holes. Ugh & Yucky! Raccoon poop is AWFUL! ::shudder::
Ugh. what a pain. I'm so sorry!
I am totally with sofa. All those critters are great - outside the house. When they come inside, it's go time, and I get all freaked out & ruthless on them.
I can only imagine the grossness of raccoon poop
After seeing a chicken poop when we were visiting a farm, my LO has become obsessed with the phrase "chicken poop" and "poopy chicken." I suspect that knowing that raccoons pooped would make him truly crazy.
I grew up in the country- I know just how destructive they can be- they killed ALL the chickens in my mom's hen house (50 + birds)- noted killed not ate, they were so territorial over the hay barn that it took my dad to stand as guard in order to get hay for our horses. The birthing time is February to June.
The trapper and his buddy came out and found tracks on the ducts, some insulation torn, not a lot of skat (nice word)- and it is coming in one of the ventalation fans in the attic- it broke the motor so it could get in. He is going to place the trap tomorrow since it is raining tonight. He expects it to be a one day thing- then my DH is buying a guard for the fan to place on the outside so they can't reach the blades.
Oh and the strange noises are it climbing up my freaking downspouts- lovely.
Raccoons were tearing the shingles off of my mom's roof. She could hear them doing it at night. Then one day, she saw a bunch of raccoons going into my neighbor's garage...they were living there then coming to our house at night to tear our shingles. So she went over there and was like, "You have raccoons living in your garage!" And the neighbor said, "Yeah, I know."
Um, lady, you should not be allowing raccoons to live with you!
