Did you first feed oatmeal or rice?

Does it make a difference? My mom is convinced he isn't taking to eating b/c I bought oatmeal and it tastes too bland. Just curious what everyone else is doing...

    I started with rice.  DS ate it and seemed to like it.  When I fed him oatmeal he gobbled it down like he'd never had food.  It's safe to say oatmeal is his favorite.  He hardly eats the rice now.

    I was told rice by my doctor, supposedly it's even milder than oatmeal. We JUST started 3 days ago, I think in another week or so I'll try the oatmeal, I don't think it matters that much.

    We started with oatmeal because that is what the pedi suggested due to allergy reasons I guess. He seems to really like it.We use Happy Bellies

    ETA: Also, I mixed it with water before or half water half bm and he doesn't like it. He only eats it if it is mixed with bm.

    I  do mix with BM. I think he is just not ready, but everyone (with now grown children:( kept on me. Plus I have problems keeping up with supply while at work, so I said go ahead and try it while I am gone. They have been "trying" for 3 weeks now. I tried on Saturday for fun. Made about 2tsp full of mixed and he did not want it. He even cried over it.

    You could try mixing with formula. Maybe try another brand, or make it less thick so it is mostly bm/formula.

    I have tried a banana with the same non-interest. I am seriously thinking of just giving in and introducing formula if I have to. So far we haven't used any but I am at work FT and it just seems impossible to not supplement if he doesn't start eating soon.

    Aww my little boy in named Peyton too!

    We started with rice cereal, but he hated it! He would cry when we gave it to him. We switched to oatmeal and he LOVES it!

    We started with rice. We can't shovel it in his face fast enough though and he gets upset because he is not getting it fast enough and cries. I have tried making it really watery with BM and feeding it to him through a bottle and that seems to work a little better.
