June 2011 Moms

What a week..

So I went back to teaching two weeks ago, so DD has been in DC that long.  Last Sunday DD was throwing up and had diarrhea, so we figured she had a stomach bug, she stayed home on Monday and Tuesday.  Wednesday she went back and they called to tell us they thought she had pink eye.  She had green mucous flowing from her eyes, DH called the pedi and they called in drops and told us to bring her in Friday if it didn't get better or she had other symptoms.  Her eyes cleared up and Thursday she starts running a fever...

MIL took her for us on Friday and Dr. said her chest and ears were clear, and her lymph nodes were fine.  They said it was most likely a virus and probably roseola.  Friday night her temperature was 104.5.  We gave her motrin a cool bath and called the pedi.  They told us as long as it came down some it was ok.  It did to 102 so we put her to bed.

At 10:30 she woke up crying and it was 104.5 again...  I gave her tylenol and was waiting for it to go down and DD started vomitting everywhere... So we took her to the ER.  They lectured us that fevers are fine (annoying) and checked her out and she had an ear infection, so we were given antibotics.  Her fever went away by Saturday morning, then came back Saturday night.  It's been gone since yesterday morning.

Today she has a full body rash so I'm thinking she did have roseola.  We already have a well check for today so I guess we'll talk to the pedi about all of this.

What are the chances in one weeks DD would have a stomach bug, pink eye, an ear infection and roseola?

She needs to be well for a long time now...

  • Oh wow poor baby and poor mama. Hopefully she got all if her sicknesses out of the way at once and she will be healthy for the rest of your school year. I hope she is feeling better today!

  • Poor little girl and poor Mommy and Daddy. I hope she is feeling much better and has a good streak ahead. I hate those moments of wtf is going on NOW. it's like the flood gates open for illness and it won't stop. Hope the week ahead is quiet!

  • Sounds like a nightmare, and a year's worth of illnesses all in one week. Hopefully she's back to herself soon and healthy for a long, long time.

  • Thanks Everyone.  She had her well visit this morning and the pedi said the rash looks virual, so probably roseola.  Nothing they can really do.  She finally ate a little better at lunch and is taking a nice nap.  I'm off tomorrow but I think I'm sending her back to daycare for part of the day because she's been out so long.
