We've been using an Evenflo Triumph for DD1 for about 1.5 years and love it. Easy to install, easy to adjust the harness, and she is still comfortably rearfacing.

In my car we have an Evenflo Symphony 65 e3 that we/she loves. My DH has a Safety 1st Alpha Omega Elite. It's ok and does the job but we like the Evenflo better.

I got the consumer reports baby edition from the library...the top rated convertible with longer rear facing is the evenflo triumph...I'm getting that for LO next week. Hope that helps. (No experience though).
We got the s1by safety first Easy fit 65. It was at babies r us. We needed something that would fit in our compact car rear facing. So far, no complaints. I got it installed pretty easily rear facing and she seems to be comfortable enough.
After 2 years of TTC, our daughter was born on Oct 31, 2011! 7lbs 13oz 20 inches long ">
Watch their length, too. DS is 29 inches long, and his pediatrician mentioned he shold now be out of his infant seat. So we just put him into the Brittax Roundabout this weekend (rear-facing of course). It's a great seat!
We have a Graco My Ride and I really like it. It looks so comfy I wish they made an adult sized one. DD doesn't care for it, but it's simply because she hates being restrained, she's definitely comfy in it because she's fallen asleep in it frequently.

We have the Eddie Bauer 3 in 1 (basically the same as the Safety First Alpha Omega Elite) and we love it. We bought one for our oldest when she was about 8 months and just bought another one for our second this weekend. It installs super easy and both girls love it!

Started our exploration into the world of international adoption June 2012. We have no idea what this is going to look like but we are excited to find out!
We have the Recaro Proride and I call it the magic carseat. We live a mile from his daycare, the post-office, the supermarket, etc. And if we're in the car for a mile or less, he spends the entire time laughing. He loves the seat. For longer than a mile (the time it takes to get to the freeway) he passes right out.
DD1 loved the Graco MyRide, and I just switched DD2 to it while DD1 is now in the Britex Frontier. DD2 loves it too. It's comfy and so easy to install and switch from car to car (we don't have latch in either car so we're using the belt, I just sit or kneel in the seat when installing and always get a super tight install).

I would advise again the Eddie Bauer/Alpha Omega seat. Especially if its the 40lb version. The 50 and 65lbs versions aren't as bad harness wise, but they still make a deadly booster. The 40lb version is outgrown super early. If you get the 50/65lb version, don't plan on using it as a booster when the time comes.
I have two Britax Marathons, 2 Britax Boulevard 70s, 1 Britax Roundabout 50, and a Graco Size 4 Me 70. I love them all. I would highly suggest looking at the S4M 70. It is now the tallest rear-facing seat in the US. Awesome.
We have the MyRide 65 for DD, but now that she is older I really wish we had one with removable cup holders (they get NASTY!).
For DS we got the Maxi Cosi Priori and I am in love with it. It has all the great features of the MyRide but with removable cup holders AND a recline option once you turn it forward facing (DS is still rear facing).
Having had both, I would recommend the Maxi Cosi.
