Re: Avoiding cold cuts?

  • ill admit, ive had some :( but I really do try to limit it. Maybe try the veggie avacado, sprouts etc? Its actually really good and I usually take most of my meat off my JJ sandwich anyways

I know I should do everything I can to avoid it all, after going through everything.....

  • I ate cold cuts. I think it's fine, I mean listeria can be found on SO many other things you'll get to the point where you can't eat anything. But that is a personal opinion.

Try a meatball sub? They are cooked and delicious, or a tuna sub. Or a cooked chicken breast sub. (I've never been to this restaurant so I'm basing my sub choices off of other sub places I've been to)

  • I too ate cold turkey sandwiches during the 1st-Tri.  I tried to limit myself to 1 per week/maybe 2 at the most.  It was one of the few things that sounded good and could actually eat.

  • Can you nuke the sammich in the microwave to warm it up? Also, PP mentioned sprouts, and I know JJ puts alfalfa sprouts on their sandwiches (or used to...). My clinic gave me info that said no raw sprouts, so I would chunk those if they come on it.

I feel uber paranoid all the time with these rules, LOL!

  • I looked at their menu and there are no meatball subs, and I'm too paranoid about the mercury in tuna, so I ordered a BLT, not the healthiest but at least it's something I can eat!  Thanks ladies for the advice.

  • I've had a turkey sandwich a handful of times. 3 time I bought the meat and made/ate the meat the next day at noon. 2 other times I had it toasted. Once I only ate a little. Doing my best not too. It's hard.

  • I eat turkey and cheese sandwiches and roll ups for lunch here and there. I usually only get boards head turkey and if I can i warm it up. Other then that I dont really worry about it. But that is a personal choice. Enjoy your BLT!

  • My OB said it's fine. He said just don't eat anything that should be cold and has sat out for a long time. I was thrilled when he said go for it because I love turkey sandwiches from Eat Z's. Do what you feel comfortable with.... if you need just pack a lunch and say your stomach has been sensitive lately.

  • I've had a couple of subs, but always made sure to microwave them so that the meat was hot.  The nutritionist also suggested doing this if I wanted to have any lunch meat.  I know the odds of getting lysteria are small, but it only takes that one time, so I'm trying not to risk it.

  • I have had lunch meat a handful of times through out my whole pregnancy.  I just try not to eat it all the time.

If you can though get something that has been warmed up instead of just cold.  Anything like tuna or chicken salad would work or meatball subs.  Also if they have something that is like a cooked chicken breast would work.

If those don't appeal to you or are not an option then I wouldn't worry to much about it and go ahead and get whatever kind you like.
