Trying to Get Pregnant

Newbie {ttc 2 months}

Hey all! Let me introduce myself- I am a wife and stepmom.  Hubby and I married in June.  We decided after we got engaged that we'd start trying soon after wedding.

 Its been two months- I know I'm supposed to be patient for a whole6 months  but I feel let down after a negative EPT three days before expected arrival of aunt flo.  I thought I felt queasy this morning so I guess I let my imagination run wild with that one.  Wish it would happen already! I am 27- thought it would happen right away I guess since that seems to be the case for everyone else I know.

 Any tips or advice?  How long did it take some of you? Or how long have you been trying?

My cycle is 28 days exactly. We had sex every day and sometimes twice a day in days 8-16 of cycle. (3x-4x week is normal for us- except the last 4-5 days of my cycle because I never have a sex drive on those days for some reason!)

Thanks!!!

Re: Newbie {ttc 2 months}

  • Welcome! I am also a newbie and have been trying for 2 months.  I have irregular periods though and I've decided I'm not going to track/chart anything for at least 4 months and just have fun not using protection.....we're not in a huge rush anyway as we are in the midst of selling our house and building a new one. We also have sex 4-5 times a week so I figure that when i finally ovulate hopefully it'll happen! Good luck to you! I don't know about you but this time in our lives is definitely an exciting and fun time!

  • Welcome!

    I understand you want it to happen right away, we all do, but two months isn't really that long.  It can take up to a year for a healthy couple with great timing, I hope it happens sooner than that to you.

    This link has a lot of great info: https://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/42877040.aspx

    Good luck!

  • Welcome. I'm also new and have been trying for 2 cycles, though just about to move onto the 3rd.

    I would recommend joining Fertility Friend and charting your BBT. It's helped me feel a lot more in control of the whole process.

    Best of luck to you.

  • I know I know... It's just that we're so excited to grow our family.  I'm sure you understand.  My cousin is a teacher and literally planned her pregnancy so that she could deliver at the beginning of summer and use her work maternity leave at 3 months.  Just hoping for fast and easy!!

    Even if it is fast, that doesn't guarantee easy.  Hang in there!

  • So exciting! Honestly when we talked about it before I went off the pill I was like yeah no rush if it happens it happens... And then I wasn't pregnant and I was sad. Not luck rush to the doc worried or worried at all really- just a little sad.  I think the sadness amplifies itself because I'm getting a negative result when I'm getting my period... And I'm like a crazy emotional fool on my period.  So there's that too lol!!

    Good luck with everything- home building sounds fun! We just bought a house and were loiving the space and anxious to fill it!

  • Welcome and good luck!

    Good advice from PPs. You really do have to try and stay busy with hobbies and so on, it'll happen when it happens. Just do your homework, track your cycles and let time take its course. There are definitely ups and downs. I know many women on here have been trying a long, long time. I've been trying since February myself, which isn't really all that long in TTC world; and at 24, (23 when I began), I definitely thought it'd happen almost immediately. Anything you can do to stay occupied in other things definitely helps, even if it's difficult sometimes not to think about it.

  • I am so a newbie.  This is our 5th cycle trying and yes it does get frustrating especially if you are an impatient person like me and everyone you know is just popping up pregnant out of no where and they are just like "It was so unexpected we weren't even trying!"  Good luck to everyone!

  • Welcome.  I am also a newbie here, and have been trying for 2 cycles.  I am on my 3rd cycle now.  It can be hard at first when you get AF or a BFN, espcially if you hear all the stories before you start trying of people who get pregnant "on the first shot".  But hang in there and start a FF account and temping...it will help you learn you body and your cycle.

    Good Luck!

  • Welcome and good luck!

    We have been trying for2 cycles/3 months.

    Please use pink dye tests, the blue dyes are known for false positives.

    I'm sure others have sent you to the newbie link, and Fertility Friend, so I think that is all the advice I can give you right now.

    Again, good luck!

  • We haven't started charting yet--- and I don't think I will until 6 months.  But we'll see- I've been a lot more emotional about ttc that I thought I would be.  I doubt I'll make it until 6 months before I start carting everything.
  • Welcome to the board - hope your stay here is a short one. I would recommend reading the newbie link at the top of the TTGP page - it has really helpful information. Fertilityfriend.com will be your new best friend. GL

  • Welcome!  I hope you decide to start temping.  There were a couple months when I only used OPKs and monitored CM, but temping is so much more accurate.  We tried for a couple months, had to take a break for a while, and have been trying since May.  I know what you mean about thinking it will happen right away.  And it may very well!  But like PP have said, stay positive and don't assume there's something wrong with you if you don't get KU right away.  GL!  :)
