Baby Hemorrhoid

Lately my DD has been a bit constipated due to the changes in diet and new foods we've introduced to her.  I noticed what looks to me like a hemorrhoid from her pushing so much to go to poop.  I've been giving her tons of prune's and pears to help her go and lots of water as well.  Has anyone else's LO every experienced this? I've been told witch hazel is a natural remedy to help with the problem.

Re: Baby Hemorrhoid

  • yes witch hazel but i think at this point, the child needs help getting the poop out from the outside in, not the inside out like pears and prunes do, cut a child suppository in half and give it to that poor thing. that can not be comfortable and they shouldnt push so hard that it gives them hemorrhoids.

  • I agree with the PP but I'd call your pedi first. They shouldn't be straining that hard. You might want to cut out binding foods like rice cereal or bananas as well.

  • Witch hazel helps. You might want to call the pediatrician and see if you can put some preparation H on it as well.

But additionally, you want to make sure that the poop situation is resolved. You can ask if you can maybe give the baby a little miralax while she is healing up the hemorrhoid.
