I have never been to a baptism before, and we did not baptize DS. What is an appropriate monetary gift to give? The child is DH's cousin's son. Thanks!

idk if "appropriate" or not, since I think monetary gifts reflect on what you can personally affortd to give, but....I would think $25 is good?
My nephew just made his and I gave him $50. So, I would think $25 would be fair? If you don't think thats enough you could also include a small religious gift? (ex:childrens bible, saint medal, cross nightlight, etc)
I'd say for a cousin's son, $25 is what I would give. Granted I am not that close to any of my cousins. If it was someone I was very close to or a nephew/niece I would probably give more. One of my favorite gifts DS got for his baptism was a children's prayer book. It's one of those soft padded cover books. We read some prayers every night.

$25 if you're not super close, $50 if you are close. Sometimes an actual gift is less expensive and a nice gesture. DS got a really cute Reed&Barton silver picture frame with a cross on it, and I just put a picture of his baptism in it.

I agree with this. We had DD's baptism a few months ago and for the most part that's what people gave...most of our very close family members gave at least $50 and the people we weren't as close with gave $25 or a small gift - someone gave us a beautiful picture frame that says 'my baptism' on it...we were also given a baby bible, and a book of children's prayers.

For us in depends on how close the relative is and the location of the event (we always try and cover our plate costs and have something extra).
Our gifts for baptism generally start at $100 and depending on how the close the relationship we increase
