Just curious as sometimes people change so much since then that you would never have guessed that maybe someone was in the Chess Club for example. For example I picture Ernie to have been in the Debate Club, Dixee would have been in Track and Field, Beener would have been in some type of community serve organization and maybe Tambcat would have played field hockey? ![]()
Who were you? Also, what would you guess of other bumpies?
I was the Teacher Pet
The Teacher always left me in charge, haha. I was on the Softball Team ( I was not great at all), I was on the Yearbook Committee and I was one of those kids who never got into trouble and tried hard to get good grades. I was not in any advanced classes but I was top of my class in the "Regular" classes. I graduated 13 out of 55, yep I had a VERY small graduating class.
Re: GTKY: Who were you in HS?
I was a softball player and a drama geek, but wasn't friends with the jock crowd...I hung out with the more book-ish types and the theater people. I didn't have a lot of good friends in school, I just kind of mingled around between different groups.
I bet MikeHoncho was class clown! ;P
I was the athlete/partier...I played soccer and lived for the weekends! I was also in the art club and took mostly art classes, and i was in the foreign language club bc they went on the best field trips. We went to Chicago one day and saw a Mexican art museum, took flamenco dancing lessons, and had dinner at a delicious French restaurant! It was awesome.
I picture ateal being part of a writing/poetry/book type club...huahualove maybe being a cheerleader (she's so supportive!
)...cphillz i think i see as an athlete, maybe bc camden is such a cute boy's boy...starbound i see as being part of the band/orchestra, but also hanging with the party crowd.
I hated high school. We lived in an upper middle class area and my parents didn't make as much money as the other kids parents. I always had really nice clothes, but we couldn't afford the $120 jeans etc. I was an average student. My best friend was three years older than me and my first boyfriend went to another school. All other boyfriends after him were three or more years older than I. I had two other close friends. I excelled in photography and did well in English.
After my sophomore year in high school I rare spent time at high school events. It just wasn't fun. The other kids were always hurtful to us if they were in a group. I did have a friend in about every "clique" you can think of so I had all sorts of shi!t on people at school. I spent most of my time at college parties and events. I ended up starting at the college that my best friend went to.
Best legs? That's a new one!
Etta Jane and Claire Elaine are here! Born March 28, 2012.

Cloth diapering twins, Part II.
I was the goth drama/stage crew kid who was in GT classes and a teacher's pet. I was too busy smoking behind the school to figure out what lunch table I belonged at.
(And goth, not emo. Baggy, not skinny jeans)
I was your typical overachiever.
I was the editor of the newspaper all four years, NHS, yearbook editor, drama, choir, prom/homecoming committee, played field hockey, ran track, managed the baseball team, and took AP classes. I graduated in the top 10% of my class too, which I'm still proud of. Also, I was president of my class. Voted most artistic and most outgoing. I loved high school, and I loved everyone in my class. I had a great time and made the most of it.
You crack me up so much!! hahahaha
Weird side note: my younger brother insisted on buying the candy from me. I was like, we're family, it's free and he would tell me I was a crappy business woman.
I was often the teacher's pet but not because I kissed butt. I was super small and pretty smart. I was part of the literary newspaper team and spent my time writing angsty poetry and going to ska and punk shows. I didn't have a ton of friends and was kind of awkward due to looking so much younger than everyone else. I drove an old convertible, tried to stage protests, and quietly thought I was the sh*t.
Hmmmm not that much has changed :-p.
I graduated a year early from HS and spent most of the time split between the grades. I had friends in all cliques for the most part. I was a cheerleader, captain of the swim team (I LOVED my swim team!!), a peer mediator, part of the debate team (the only team from my school's history to place in city-wide debates) and dropped out of honor classes because we had to pay for the tests and I had some run ins with the teacher.
I had friends in so many groups and hardly went to class, but still maintained a pretty decent average. I also did a lot of writing, acting competitions, speech competitions and major internships.
I was much more active with theater outside of school and was heavily involved in an acting/activism organization which was the highlight of my high school years.
I felt so bored in high school and wasn't a fan of the people so I can't say I miss it at all even though I was so involved.
I had a similar situation, except it wasn't clothes I had a problem with due to money, I couldn't afford to pay for the advanced test to give me "college credits" but was still in the class. The teacher wouldn't give me the hand outs since I wasn't taking the test, and I'd fail without them since they were going to be on the in-class final. Then a kid called me out for being poor and had a bunch of football jocks jeering at me and the teacher did nothing.
I walked out of the class and right to the dean of the department and explained the situation. The dean was the main sponsor of the debate team and was so proud of me for working so hard and was so upset about what happened. He put me into another class and I slept through every single one and still graduated.
Also, I tended to date older guys who went to the private catholic school by me, which was the cool school lol.
PS. They have since fenced in the bridge and you can no longer get to the creek or hang out there.
Monkeybabe you are hilarious! Selling candy on the black market...what year did you graduate? Must be after me because I didn't remember the candy banning thing.
There were lots of different sides of me in HS. I was in NHS until I went into a pretty deep depression Jr year. I went from straight A's to several D's and having to drop classes. I then got my grades back up again my Sr year. I was in a lot of groups, Ace Club (The Asian Club, and no, I'n not Asian but my friend was and she was trying to build up the members), BPA (Business Professionals of America, like DECA but cooler in my book), Quill and Scroll (Yearbook Honors Socity), Spanish Honors Society. Our year book was one of the top in the nation so we had a lot of pressure put on us. I ended up dropping the class my Jr year because I was diagnosed with MS and the drs told me that I would be blind and in a wheel chair in the matter of a few years. I was in a whole lot of physical pain, and emotional. I had panic attacks all the time, and was on a lot of pain killers and I was going through a really bad break-up. Jr year really sucked. Then I got my head out of my ass and said screw it and went back to making good grades, I was working close to 40 hrs per week my sr year because I wanted to be able to go to Spain for an exchange program and to save for college because I know I would have to pay for it all myself.
Even when I was really depressed, I still did really good in a few things, in Spanish as well as in History- they were both advanced classes and I really like a challenge at things I enjoyed. I also volunteered as a teacher's aid for a kindergarten class and I loved it. It was for a class, but I put in twice as many hours as I needed to because it was the one place I could really forget about all the pain.
My sr year I went to Mayo clinic and they just said it was some sort of pain disorder that they don't think it was MS, but they really had no clue and had me keep managing my pain with medicines. Wow, this is really depressing, sorry. Flash forward to now, I don't have MS, drs were wrong! I've been off pain meds for over 2 years now, I still have pain, but nothing like before and I'm managing it pretty well.
I was on the Speech Team (different than Debate), drama club, choir and was an editor on the school newspaper. I got good grades and tried pretty hard in most of my classes. If I remember correctly, I graduated 117th out of around 750.
Soooo pretty much the same
We weren't ever told class rankings but I had awesome grades and was near the top.
I ran cross country and track and was received 'most dedicated' my last 2 years of cross country. I'm sure that speaks to my actually running skill. But if I do something, I'm going to try to do it really well.
My last 2 years I became quite a partier and drank quite a bit on weekends and still kept up my grades and running! Multitasker for the win.
I should have graduated in 2007, but graduated my junior year in 2006 because I didn't like school.
I drove a celica with a flip top sun roof too!!! it was totally a cool car.
Ah, I feel old. I graduated in 2001. I'll have to ask my sister if she remembers too, she graduated in 2006.
It didn't go into effect until 2007, my school was just stupid and wanted to be ahead of the curve or whatever.
