What's your bedtime routine?

We're still working on coming up with a consistent bedtime routine. I feel like lately we've sort of been all over the place.

So, what's your bedtime routine?
What time does LO go down?
What time are they up in the morning and is it a spontaneous wake up or do you wake them?

Re: What's your bedtime routine?

  • We don't really have much of a routine at all. I let him nurse, then I feed him some oatmeal with milk, clean him up, put on clean diaper and pjs, then I let him nurse some more to "top of his baby tank" as I call it then I lay him down in bed with a pacifier and walk away. He is really good at going to bed at night the first time, but for naps and when he wakes up and you try to put him back down, it is much, much harder. His bedtime varies some, but normally between 8:15 and 9:30, depending on when he took his last nap, I just watch to see if he acts sleepy at all. He wakes up on his own at 6am every day.

  • We do a bath at 6:45, then lotion and pjs. After that he has his Zantac and a bottle while we watch NBC Nightly News. We read 3 books and then put him in his sleepsack and he's down by 7:30. He wakes up around 7:30 in the morning, if he goes past 8 I usually wake him.

  • I keep it simple.

    6pm- 7oz Bottle of Formula

Every other night he gets a bath around 6:30pm

Watch for his cues but normally around 7-7:15pm he appears ready to sleep

New Diaper, Jammies and literally rock him for 1-2 minutes with his paci and he is out.  Yep, I still rock him and I am okay with it Stick out tongue

He will sleep until about 5am and then I will have to do a few quick paci re-inserts if I want him to go until 6am for his next bottle.

    He is easy peasey.

Eventually he'll start having evening solids, and then later on we'll begin doing book time at night with him.

  • We don't have one either he just gets tired so the PJ's go on and we keep the lights low in the house.  He usually goes down between 9 - 10 although it seems to be earlier lately.  He sleeps till 7:30 -8.

  • So, what's your bedtime routine? We don't really have one. First the four month wakeful started and now she is sick and/or teething. She gets a bath every other night (unless she has spit up a lot or had a blow out) we have quiet snuggle time and then she'll nurse to sleep.
What time does LO go down? It varies. Sometimes she'll take a cat nap after dinner and then wake up at about 9 and want to be up til 11 or so. Most nights she is down about 9 though.
What time are they up in the morning and is it a spontaneous wake up or do you wake them? Usually it's around 9. Sometimes she'll wake up when I'm getting the boys ready for school, but it's usually later. She'll stay up about an hour or two and then take a 2-3 hour morning nap.

  • Between 6:30 and 7:00 he gets a bottle, depending on when he starts to get hungry and/or sleepy.  Then it's bath time, followed by lotion/massage and jammies.  I take him to his room, turn on the white noise, turn off the lights.  If he didn't finish his bottle from earlier I offer him the rest. Last thing is a quick hug and a prayer and I lay him down in his crib with his taggy.  He goes down around 7:30 and he wakes for the day around 8:30 (feeds 3-4 times overnight still).

  • At 7 we go into his room. We put on jammies, rock in his chair while having his last bottle, read a book, sing a song, pop him in the crib, and shut the door. He usually rolls around for 10 minutes or so and tends to be asleep around 7:30. Wake up time varies ...it all depends on when he wakes for his early morning feed....If he isn't already up I wake him at 6:45 AM at the latest so we can all get to DS1's school on time.

  • He usually goes down between 6:30-7:00. He gets a bath around 6:00 and he plays a bit in the tub. Afterwards he gets baby lotion and into a sleeper. He gets a bottle before bed and usually won't wake up for another bottle until around 5:30. He will usually fall back alsleep on the weekends and wake back up around 7:30. During the week we leave the house around 6:45 and head to my parents.

  • I nurse, read a book, put on lotion and pjs' and then say good night to everything.

She goes to sleep between 6:30 and 7:30.

Most days it is a spontaneous wakeup. She gets up at least once during the night and then during the week she gets up around 6:30. Occasionally on weekends she will sleep until 7:00.

  • Diaper, jammies, nurse w/ sound machine on, put down, sleep. This is typically at 7ish. She was doing 10-12 hours after the 4mo wakeful but now she is up around 1am and then up for the day around 5:15am. The wake up time is brutal but she waks up so spunky. Pushing bedtime back makes everything worse.

  • We start at about 8 or 8:15.  We changer her diaper, put on a longsleeve onesie and then put her in a sleepsack.  DH hands her to me and then I nurse her.  She falls asleep on the boob and comfort nurses for a while.  If I let her, she would comfort nurse for hours so I unlatch her, this wakes her up, she looks at me all pissed off, I burp her and put her in the crib awake.  She goes for her thumb and falls asleep.

We have only been bathing about twice a week and if it is bath night, we just start the process 15 mins early and give her a bath.  With the harness, she will likely only be getting weekly baths now.

She is usually awake around 8:30 but it can be anywhere from 7:30 to 9:00.

  • We don't *do* much, but we do the same thing every night.  At 7 MH changes DS and gets him into his pajamas.  Then he gives DS to me and I nurse him.  He's pretty much out after he eats, and is just comfort nursing for a bit (usually 15 minutes total), then DH comes in and burps him and puts him in the RNP for bed by 7:30.  That's pretty much it haha.  On bath nights we give him a bath at 6:45, and do routine after that.  DS wakes pretty consistently at 3 or 3:30, DH changes his diaper, I feed him, and then back to sleep until anywhere between 6-7.
  • We do bath (I don't use soap every night), books (maybe 4-5 short ones), and then LO nurses. Once she is done , DH rocks her for a few minutes and then puts her in her crib awake.

This is around 8:30. She wakes once or twice a night to nurse and wakes up on her own in the morning, usually around 6:30.

  • Start the tub at 7:30, and while it's filling, let her play naked for a few minutes.  Bath, lotion/massage, PJ's.  Go in her room, read Goodnight Moon in the glider, turn on white noise, Zantac/nurse, put her down in the crib.  She's down by 8:30 usually.  Then she's up at 10:30, 3, 6, and for good at 9am.  We just started crib transition this past week, but she's been incredibly consistent.  When she's up, we just nurse, and she goes back to sleep immediately, so I don't mind.

  • We start at 630 or 7pm depending on her mood and her last nap.

Bath, pajamas, story, nurse on one boob, diaper change, nurse on other boob in dark room with white noise, then we zip her in the magic sleep suit and leave the room. Shes generally asleep in 10 minutes.

She wakes for the day anywhere from 5am to 7am. Although the other day she slept until 930 when we woke her! That was nutso though. If she wakes before 5am I give her a paci and she goes back to sleep.

  • 8 is bath time, then pjs's then a 3 oz bottle, white noise going and rock to sleep in the glider with shushing or me singing with her soothie. Usually she's asleep around 8:30ish.

Up for the day around 7. Now that she's in the crib she is up a bit earlier but she just talks for a while.
