We Can't Catch a Break (pun, intended)

This morning, my lo broke his tibia.  It seems like it's always something.  I just got him feeling better from a bad reaction to amox to treat a nasty double ear infection.  The reaction to the antibiotic resulted in colitis, which is no joke.  Seriously, I would *NOT* wish that on my worst mommy enemy.

My husband took him out to lunch with his family.  He came home and put him in his crib while he woke me up so I could shower and take over baby duties (he is painting the exterior of our house).  Lo was fine, watching Elmo, when suddenly he starts SCREAMING.  He's a noisy baby anyway, but this was different.  It shook me to my soul.  My H goes in to find that he's injured his foot.  It's red, swollen, and has a scratch on it.  We rushed him to the walk in.  They x-rayed his foot, which was fine, but...oh, by the way, he's broken his tibia.

The doctor referred to it as a "toddler fracture" and said that it was common.  He put a temporary cast on it until we can meet with the orthopedic specialist on Monday.

I have no idea how I'm going to keep him from tearing around.  My lo is VERY active and runs everywhere.  He absolutely WILL NOT sit still.  He bucks and screams if you try and hold him back.

If you've made it this far, thanks.  I just needed to vent.  I'm tired and frustrated and seriously need my baby to get and stay better for longer than a week.  Sad

  • Yikes!  You have not had an easy time lately. Hoping your little one heals quickly and you have a very boring, healthy, uneventful time that follows.
