This girl!
We've been doing this kitchen reno for-evar. Like, we started in April 2011. I haven't been kitchen-less that whole time though, no ma'am. We decided to scrap the formal sitting room in our house and re-make it as a kitchen. The old was was a shiiiittttay galley kitchen that was less than useless.
Here is what the room looked like before the reno started:
Here's what it looked like mid-reno:

And here's the back splash today:

It's been a labour of love (ok, hate) but I looooove my new kitchen.
This is our reno blog, https://bluehouseonthecorner.blogspot.ca/, though I haven't updated it since last December. I need to get on that.
Re: Who's got 2 thumbs and a back splash??
Yup! H did it yesterday and today. We've done the whole kitchen ourselves. H even built the cabinets. We're hardcore. (also crazy)
Holy moley, that's incredible! They are beautiful! Tell your H I give him mad creepy internet props, WOW. Was it hard? I really want to tile our shower but I'm nervous. I know they are different but not that much different. Like backsplash on crack.
I love what you did to the place!
How was it putting in the backsplash? Was it hard? Any tips? I have some in my garage, but I have to relook into how to put it up.
We are in the process of a kitchen update. We've been refinishing our countertops. We're in the middle of it. I'm sick of my kitchen being in my living room. If anybody wants to redo their countertops, have you ever heard of rustoleum countertop transformations? So far, it seems to be going well, but we're not at the final product yet. I can PIP if anybody is interested when I'm through.
A new sink and the countertops were just a start. Next is to paint and put up a backsplash. Next year I would like some tile floors. We'll see how that turns out.
I'm always interested in DIY photos. Always.
Our first big project was a bathroom with tiled shower. We learned a LOT doing that one. I love the blog Young House Love for tips.
Building the cabinets was finicky and time consuming. We bought the doors. H says next time he'll buy the cabinets.
It went fairly quickly and didn't seem too hard. Having a wet saw is key though. My tip would be to clean up well as you go. We've learned from experience that dried thinset is a biitch to get up.
H says thanks. He loves creepy Internet props.
