VBAC Docs and Facilities

I am in search of a new doctor and would love your help.  I currently have two children, the first was c-section and the second was a sucessful VBAC.  I delived #2 (VBAC) at ridgeveiw in Waconia and loved the entire expierence. But the doctors I worked with and I are having major scheduling conflicts. Now that I am confirmed with pregnancy three I want to know who delievered your VBAC, which doctors were supportive and which were not. If you went for a VBAC what helped you be sucessful, what didnt? (I give credit to my nurse who was a VBAC canidate too... SHE WAS AWESOME)  Keep me posted! :)

Re: VBAC Docs and Facilities

  • I know that Methodist Hospital does VBACs.  I'm due in Nov. and my drs. encouraged me to try, so we'll how it goes.  I am using Dr. Nicole Dean through Park Nicollet and the NP is Julie Rice.  To the best of my knowledge, all the OBs through park Nicollet are supportive of VBAC, particularly since you've already done one successfully.

Good luck getting it figured out!

  • The Park Nicollet Midwife group that delivers at Methodist (and I think St Francis) are very VBAC friendly.  They only have a 10% c-section rate as a whole, which is an amazing statistic.  I cannot remember which midwife, but I know there is one that had a VBAC of her own.

While I had a vaginal birth, I highly highly recommend them!

    Good Luck!!

  • I'm seeing a midwife through HealthPartners at their Health Center for Women. I've seen 2 MDs and 5 midwives in their office so far and every single one is pro VBAC and crazy supportive.

We're planning on delivering at Regions in St. Paul. They offer a VBAC class as well.

Kira!  She had a VBAC, and that's one of the reasons I chose her.  Kira Weier and she's a midwife at Meadowbrook, delivers at Methodist.  She's fabulous.

She's not who I had for delivery, and I was in labor a long time, so I had a few of them.  They were all wonderful and patient and amazing.

So yeah, successful VBAC at Methodist right here.  I would definitely recommend them.  Let me know if you need a doula recommendation, too.
