Moms with a newbie - stroller solution?

Moms with a new little one - what is your stroller solution?

We currently have a snap and go, an umbrella stroller we love, and a jogging stroller - all singles, obviously. When the baby comes, we're not quite sure what we're going to do. DH jogs with the jogger, but doesn't want a double so we don't need one of those. A front to back double won't fit in our cars, but a side by side would. We're looking at the Combi Twin Sport, but we're not sure.

Having to wrangle both kids when traveling, is it possible to do an umbrella/wear the baby or a snap and go and umbrella (with 2 parents)?

Re: Moms with a newbie - stroller solution?

  • Our Combi Twin Sport is being delivered tomorrow. I'd be happy to provide a review later in the week!  Till now, I've just been using the City Mini single for DD1 and Ergo for DD2, or City Mini single for DD2 w/ her car seat snapped in while DD1 walks (only when DH is with me).  I figured it was time to get a double though.

  • I have the Combi Twin Sport- love it.  I have used it for over a year- it is the only stroller  I use so it has gotten a lot of use- while I never used the car seat attachements- I can say it is extremely easy to fold and put in you trunk.  It also is good in places that are paved- or inside places like the mall.  I would not reccommend it for "off road" or off trail walking.
  • I have a city select but a lot of times I put Audrina in the stroller and wear Lydia in the ergo.

Well, I obviously don't know this yet, but after I tried the Graco front and back stroller in my trunk and it didn't fit, it was back to the drawing board for me. But someone told me that the Baby Trend double front and back folds smaller. And it does...it actually fit in our trunk, and we have a Toyota Camry, not a minivan or anything!  Thank God they let you put them in your trunk at BBB so you can see!

So maybe don't discount the BT Sit N Stand double yet...it's big, but not too too crazy.

  • SO glad to hear good things about the Combi. We saw it in BRU and were like, "Oh it folds nicely. Damn! It folds AGAIN?!" We were amazed how small that thing gets. We are in the process of buying a van, but still - the stroller doesn't need to take up the whole darn trunk.

I'm wondering if we can do the Beco and umbrella stroller for a while and then get a double. Hmm. I'm kind of sad that we probably won't use the snap and go too much. I LOVED that thing. So little and zippy. lol

::sigh:: I know - and I love that stroller. We are actually buying a van, so it would probably fit, but once I tried the Combi (which is a light weight double - only about 20lbs) the Gracos seemed so bulky. Who knows. We have a lot of time and really need to hit up a BBB or bigger BRU that has multiple brands to try out!

  • We are going to attempt to just wear J and use our umbrella or city mini single for awhile. But this is just in theory.... We were eyeing the joovy ultralight but think A needs to be a bit older for a sit n stand. I think around the holidays we will check out the combi and jilly's bt sit n stand.... I agree I was sad to see our sit n stand go I loved that thing but we sold it on cl before baby came since I knew we prob would never use it.

  • I'm too chicken sh!t to go out by myself with both kids so I don't have a plan quite yet lol.

When both DH and I go out with them we usually do the stroller and shopping cart, 1 kid in each.

I've considered wearing B while we're out but he falls asleep during the car ride so its better than we leave him like that in the car seat.
  • We have the Chicco double stroller, but it doesn't fit in my car at all. But we never drive any wear that we need a stroller. We really only use it for walks around the neighborhood with the dog or to the park, library and zoo, which are within walking distance from our house.

Even for morning dog walks recently I just wear the baby and use the single stroller since the baby doesn't seem to fall asleep in the carseat/ stroller but will sleep while being worn.

  • We got a double jogger. It's big. It fits in my car and barely fits into H's trunk. I have never taken it by myself out shopping or anything. We use it for walks to the park, we'll jog once K is 6months, and we take it to the zoo and outdoor festivals.
When I go out by myself with both kids I either roll her in the snap n go and he walks or back carries in the ergo, or she goes in the ergo and he goes in the shopping cart or umbrella stroller.
Since you have a tight living situation, if I remember correctly, I would suggest waiting on a double until after baby arrives so you'll have a better idea what you need and if you really need one at all.

  • We have a double bob revolution with the infant attachment. We got it because it handles better than anything else we tried and we want to take it to the beach etc. when we don't use that we use the single bob and wear the little one. Our friend is also going to let us have her double umbrella stroller for airport use, etc.
  • Since this is a winter baby and I doubt we will be going anywhere for a while I am waiting to see if I want a double or not. I figure I will probably not be going out by myself either so we can still use the snap in go or single stroller/baby wear. I might try and find a cheap on on CL just to have until I make up my mind!
