Crib placement question

LO is getting too big for her bassinet but I'm not ready for her to sleep in her own room yet.  I want to put the crib on my side of the bed where I can still see her but that would put the crib under the window and over the baseboard heater. Is there a reason I can't put it there? I don't have many other options either.

Re: Crib placement question

  • I think I actually remember reading don't put them under windows and above heaters, but I think it was for a temerature thing. If the windows not drafty and the heater doesnt make it too warm, I think it should be fine. But I'd ask your pedi just in case.

I am going to move DD's crib into our room soon too! But we are actually going to put her on the door side of the room, kinda of just awkwardly sitting there...we are doing this to avoid the heater/window!

  • I think it depends what temperature it is where you live. If it's fairly mild right now so the window isn't drafty and the furnace isn't running all the time, I think it's fine.

But if there is cold air coming in from the window and the furnace is going full-blast, that would be more concerning.

I feel your pain though - we have an old house with uninsulated walls that radiate cold in the winter. So her crib had to go next to an interior wall, which made for totally awkward placement in her room.
