So tired of not sleeping through the night!

It never fails, around 2 am every night,I must get up to pee!  So frustrating, then I have the worse time falling back asleep.

Then the worse part is, every day I wake up around 6:00 AM. When I wake up, all i can think about is what I need to do.  Now, i just get up to get some time to myself in the morning before DD wakes up. It is just impossible to sleep any longer than 6:30 am.  I went through this with DD too....I remember it got better around 18 weeks or so for about 10 weeks.  Then it was back!

I can't wait to sleep through the night again!  At least for a little while!

Anyone else in the same boat as me?

  • Last night I woke up to pee at 11pm, 2am, and 5am.  Each time I get nervous because I'm afraid I won't be able to fall back asleep.  What i find helps me is if a thought tries to creep inside my head I block it out immediately and when I crawl back into bed and close my eyes i just try to envision blackness and I can usually fall asleep within seconds.  This has been helping the last couple of weeks.  Before that I was staying awake for 2 hours with each pee.  Good luck!

  • I am the same way.  Although it has been a little better lately.  Even this morning I woke up at 3 to pee and was wide awake!!!  What I started to do was drink a lot in the morning and cut down a little on liquids at night and I seem to be sleeping a little more most days.

  • I try to avoid turning on any lights when I go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Thankfully I haven't tripped or hurt myself or anything yet...

  • I can't wait to sleep through the night either. My problem isn't falling or staying asleep. My problem is my son. Last night was horrible. I just want him to sleep through the night like a normal 2 year old. When do I get a break? I really want one before baby #2 comes around to ruin my sleep again. Le sigh.
  • Happy to hear I'm not the only one having this problem....I hate when I wake up at night, I almost wanna cry.
  • I posted a few days ago that my midwife told me to take Unisom since I was having this same problem.  I was up at 4:30 every morning and couldn't get back to sleep. I was skeptical because Tylenol PM didn't help but the Unisom worked.  I still get up to pee but I go right back to bed.  Plus, it has B6 in it which helps with nausea if any of you are experiencing that...

I do this! it helps me "not wake up" so I can fall right back asleep.  I also don't let my husband talk to me--I say "stop!  I have to fall back asleep right away or else I never will!"

  • I am up like clockwork with cramps every night.
  • Peeing isn't my problem but my sleep still sucks.  I work nights and on the days I don't work, I am home with DS all day.  So, the day before I work I am home with him and nap when he naps, then I'm up all night working, I get to sleep most of the next day between dropping DS off at daycare and picking him up and then DS goes to daycare the following day (I work 2-3 days in a row) too but but I can't let myself sleep more than 4 hours that first day off otherwise I can't sleep that night and then I'm exhausted when I'm home with DS.  I hate working nights and can't wait to get off them -- hoping to get back to days in January.  Until then, I am just exhausted All. The. Time.  So frustrating.

  • I wake up to pee at midnight and between 3:30-4:00 like clockwork. It's annoying.

  • Oh yeah I wake up at least once a night if not more to pee and then have a terrible time falling back to sleep.

I sure hope that it gets better.

  • I've not been sleeping well either.  Between waking up to pee, DS waking me up and then just general anxiety/worry, I have a hard time falling back to sleep.  I was completely off of caffeine a week or two ago but this week all that lost sleep is really catching up on me and I've had coffee almost every day since Monday.  ...which in turn, makes me jittery and nervous on top of that, worrying that it somehow harmed the baby.  Ugh.

*disclaimer - I know a little bit of caffeine is fine but I'm such a worrier these days that I really want to avoid it just for peace of mind.
