Hi There! When DD is 6 months we are going to start solids. I was wondering what food maker you use? I was really excited about the baby bullet, but then found the baby brezza. I thought I was going to get the brezza because you can steam/process all in one, but then a few people told me you can't make much at a time (I want to make a weeks worth at a time...I think). The baby bullet claims to be able to make a weeks worth, and I also saw they have a seperate steamer... so I am not sure what to get!
How do you make your baby food, and what was your experience?
Re: reccomend your baby food maker
I have the Beaba Babycook and I love it! Honestly I don't understand what people mean when they say they can't make enough in it. I easily make large batches of whatever I am cooking and I typically end up with enough for 2 ice trays (16 cubes each). That's 32oz worth of food.
I love the steamer function - you just flip the switch, set the timer and go about your business. After 15 minutes the fruit/veg is done. If I want more, I put the first batch in a bowl and set another steam batch. After that it takes a couple of minutes to blend everything and bam everything is in ice trays.
Again - how much do people normally make of one kind of food? 3 months worth? I did not think that it was safe to keep homemade stuff frozen too long. And what baby is going to go along with eating the same thing for such a stretch of time? Plus what is the point in giving baby old stuff like that? The fresher the better. The longer you freeze it the more nutrients the food will lose.
Anyways, I guess I'm rambling... I love my BabyCook and it can make as much or as little as I need. Highly recommended.
I was thinking I would just make the food for the week on a Sunday.. so this seems like it would work. Probably the other two would too!
This. My immersion blender is my favourite tool for making purees for DD. I have silicone ice cube trays with covers that let me pop out only the amount of cubes I need. For steaming, I just boil water in a regular pot, and set my stainless steel colander on top as my steamer basket. If the puree needs any additional water, I add the water from the pot.
Hi There! As you mentioned the Baby Brezza food maker can steam/process all in one, which is why we love it! And, it's true that the bowl that comes with the unit is quite small, so you can only make about two days worth of food for older babies.
However, if you want to make a week's worth at a time, you either make larger batches of purees and freeze them in the Baby Brezza Storage cups and/or you can get the Baby Brezza Prima, which holds 4 cups of baby food vs. 2 1/2 cups of baby food (One step food maker).
