do you notice a strong Mama's vs. Daddy's Girl/Boy in your LO?

Someone asked me yesterday for the first time in a long time, if DD was a Mama's or Daddy's girl and I honestly thought - neither/both.  She definitely prefers me for comfort, but Daddy is defiinitely more fun.  I discipline more/regularly, but when Daddy does it, its more rare and serious, but she responds more to him.

  • Our dynamics are simalar to yours, but they have preferences.

DD#1 is Daddy's girl, through and through.

The twins love him and all but are all about mama.  DS especially.  He barely tolerates PS but refuses to take any classes that aren't Mom and Me- he has a hard time separating.

  • My kids prefer whichever parent is doing the more fun activity, eating the more yummy treat that they want a bite of, willing to take them outside, etc LOL!

They seek daddy out more for playing and me if they get hurt or need cuddles. Pretty even most of the time

  • DS1 is aallllll about Daddy. Really hurts my feelings sometimes Sad
  • My DD is a Daddys girl and DS Comes to me. I hate that sometimes I feel like we were assigned kids.

  • The first 22 months, Alex was an EXTREME Daddy's boy and Will was more in the middle but kind of a Mommy's boy. Then it started to switch. It actually started to shift when Alex was hospitalized for a couple days. They're twins, and it was the first time in his life I'd had one on one time with him for any length of time. Over time I gradually noticed him shifting into a Mommy's boy. At this point, it's really like they've each claimed a parent for the most part. They both have a strong bond with each of us but Alex always wants to sit on my side of the car, rock with me at bedtime, hang out with me if the four of us go to the park, etc., while Will wants DH in those settings.

  • Both of mine are Mama's girls. DD1 is more so than DD2, but she and I have very similar personalities, so that may be part of it. DD2 wants to call daddy all the time when he's gone, but the second he's home, she's back to wanting me.

  • My oldest is very much a Daddy's girl. She loves me, but has always favored him. Our second is as strongly a Momma's girl as the first is attached to Daddy, so it works out. We're interested to see what #3 does!

  • My 3 yr old daughter has always been a momma's girl. I've been joking that I only plan to teach number 2 (due in days) to say Daddy.
  • Yes! DS is a mama's boy. So far that sometimes it hurts DH's feelings a bit. DD is ALL about Daddy. I have no idea why but thats what the current situation is around here.

  • Both my girls are total mommy's girls.  I think it has a lot to do with DH;s work schedule in that he does shift work so I am around them more.

It gets really bad at times that they wont even let him do anything for them.  So I end up doing everything X2.  It sucks for both of us at times.

  • DD is definitely a Mama's Girl all the way.

Our dynamic is exactly the same as yours, but DD1 is clearly a mommy's girl.  This morning she was hysterical (I heard her crying in DH's car in the garage while I was in the kitchen) for maybe 20 minutes because she wanted me to take her to school.  Sometimes she wants Daddy, but for the most part it's all about me.

  • DS is a Daddy's boy.  He has been that way since he could show a preferance.

It is getting a little more equal (since the baby), but every time DS sees a picture or has the opportunity to comment on a family group such as a big elephant and a little elephant, it is ALWAYS a Daddy Elephant and his little baby elephant. Never the mommy.

  • They are Mama's kids. Although one obvious reason is that I stay home and DH travels a lot, so they are very used to my way of doing everything.

Only very recently has DS really started to want H to do things for him instead of me. And it is terribly cute. I am happy for the break.
