December 2010 Moms

2nd b-day

Has anything thought about the upcoming 2nd b-day party?  I'm already starting to stress and it's only September.  I just know with the holidays it will come up quick and if I don't start thinking about it now i'll be overwhelmed.  Will you be doing a small party at your house or are you renting out a facility somewhere?  I'd love to rent out a play area since C is finally big enough to actually play in them (and I think it's more fun for me to watch her play than it is for her to actually do the playing)  But we might also do just a sledding party at our house.  Please tell me that I'm not the only one being ridiculous! lol

Re: 2nd b-day

  • I'm stressing too! Since his birthday is 4 days after Christmas but on Saturday idk if I need to do it in advance like last year or on his birthday. I can't decide between an ice cream party at baskin robins or an Elmo party at the house or rent a play area. There are just too many ideas!

  • Yeah we are planning already too, but his bday is november 19 so we are doing it 2 days after hosting thanksgiving at our house. Yea we are crazy!
We are gonna do something small at our house, possibly a brunch menu. I think a play area sounds fun and easy clean up. If you want to plan early and get it out of the way, i say do it!
  • I've been thinking about it too.  We will be having 2 parties this year - one for family & one for friends.  Even a small party with close friends & family is HUGE.  It was just too much for me & for P.  It will be a lot more fun to be able to see people & have the kids have room to run around.

I'm not sure what theme we will be doing yet. It will be simple again though!!

  • We don't have enough local family and friends to make a party worthwhile, so we're going to do a special family outing instead.

We went to Disney for his 1st birthday. That's on the table for this year, too, but DH also suggested the zoo, which might be fun and something different, so I think that's where I'm leaning now. :)

  • We do not really have friends with young kids so we will do a family party at my inlaws, they have the space. Family though puts us at about 40-50 people anyway. We a debating between Elmo and bubbly guppies themes.

  • We are doing a "Two Two Train" theme.  I'm purchasing all the supplies here in a week or so.  With J's bday being a week before Christmas it's easier on me financially to get his bday stuff taken care of months in advance.  We're shopping for his presents this weekend LOL  We'll have the same family and couple of friends that were at his last party.  One of my cousins had a son May 2010 and my other cousin had B/G twins in November 2010 and I had mine December 2010 so including J there will be (4) 2 year olds at the party EEK! lol

  • We had DS's birthday the 1st weekend in December last year, and only DH's aunt, uncle, and cousin, and one of my co-workers and her DH and kiddo came. It was so disappointing. :( This year I don't think we'll even attempt a party. I am taking the day off. He has his doctor's appointment in the morning and then I think I'm going to take him to an indoor play area to spend some time.

  • Yup.  I'm pretty much done planning the party.  I'm an eager beaver lol.
  • I am starting to plan a Car's themed party at our house. It's going to be on my moms birthday so I need to think of something special to do for her too.

  • We have been talking about it already too. I think we will just do another small at home lunch party again this year. It will be Sesame Street themed! Probably do the bounce house place next year.

  • I haven't thought about it at all!! I'm not a big birthday person - DS's first birthday party was just laid back pizza, salad and cake with close family and we requested no gifts. I don't see the point of a huge blow out party for a 1 or 2 year old. But that's just me!

We'll probably do the same thing...just dinner with our parents and siblings
