Another Car Seat Question

We've run into a new problem... DD's neck is getting rubbed raw when she is in the car seat. We recently had to switch the straps to the top slot (She was able to lean far forward when they were lower and her shoulders are at the same level as the upper slots) and never had this problem before. Today she has been complaining each time I tighten the straps.

The chest clip is correctly placed, aligned with her armpits. Her neck is not that fat lol. Any ideas? Anyone else facing this issue? I know we are not supposed to use covers and such, but I don't know what else I can do. This was even with a tee shirt pulled up past the point of where the digging in is happening.

We have a Graco Snugride.

You are not supposed to use anything that did not come with the seat.

Have you tried contacting Graciously to see if there is anything you can do?

Also, there is an fb group run by carseat techs called Car seats for the littles. I would take a pic of your Lo, post it and then ask the techs for advice.

Eta: dumb auto correct, should be Graco.

Yeah, the general rule is that if it didn't come with the car seat, it isn't supposed to be used/isn't safe.  Info here

  • Hmm, never heard that before. Guess ill do some research. I've used those little monkey strap covers since coming home from the hospital.

  • Yes it's true strap covers are considered unsafe since they are not safety tested. A car seat tech told me to cut the toes of baby socks and put them on, since they are much thinner they are safe

The socks aren't tested with the seat obviously, but they are thin so they arent adding extra bulk between the straps and you baby so compression isn't an issue like it would be with the after market strap covers they sell.

  • You can call your local fire department or hospital about car seat checks.
