December 2010 Moms

I must be forgetting something...

Last week, I felt like I had so much more to do before this baby comes.  Now that I ordered the remaining stuff off of my registry and it was delivered, packed about 75% of my hospital bag, and got my maternity leave sorted out, I feel like I ran out of stuff to do.  Why did I feel so busy if I seriously had 3 things left to do? I must be forgetting something huge...

What were the things you left until last minute for your babies? If you tell me, they will probably all be things I still have left to do and can't think of...

  • We waited until the last minute to set up the bassinet & install the car seat.

Eeek!  I am getting so excited for you!  Squeee!!

  • Uhm, we had nothing done. No carseat, no bag packed, no diapers or onsies. I blame the fact that G came early because I expected to go all the way to my EDD at least. Anyway, sounds like you're in good shape!

OOh...ok, I definitely should make the appointment with our police station to get the car seats installed!  And getting the swing and bassinet out of the garage and washing them down doesn't sound like such a bad idea either! See, I knew you guys would think of things I hadn't thought of!

  • Have your newborn and 3 month clothes out and washed, etc.

    Swaddle blankets, burp clothes, etc.

Stock up on newborn and size 1 diapers.

  • A last batch of things just came today for us, too, including my Moby wrap! We also ordered the chair for DS's room today, so we can move the glider to the new nursery. Now I'm just waiting on this damn rug!

Car seats are installed, hospital bag is packed.

Last night, I printed out Anthony's schedule for the family who will be watching him.

I have to bring my disability papers to my OB appt on Tuesday so they can fill their portion out. I already sent the employer's portion to my HR lady.

ummm...bassinet is set up, NB clothes & linens are washed. Swing, boppy & RnP inserts/covers have been organically dry cleaned & reassembled, lol

Crib is set up w/ sheet, skirt & breathable bumpers.

I got all my BFing supplies - bras, cream, pads.

I still need to boil my pump parts, bottles & nipples - maybe I'll do that Monday.

Other than that, holy crap - I think we're ready!

    Definitely this!

Make sure you have everything washed and put away and you know where it is because you will have a 'scatterbrain' way of thinking during that initial survival mode phase!

I'm all done with this! The only bad part is that they are all sitting in a pile in the nursery because my dresser arrived damaged, so I am waiting for a replacement. They are telling me a week...we'll see. It's been 4 weeks already...

  • I didn't read the replies so sorry if I'm repeating!

Bishop came early so while I was at the hospital, DH was installing the car seat lol so I'd say that'd be my number one recommendation.

My second would be to have all your breastfeeding stuff (pumping supplies, bottles, etc) ready to go.

Oh and maybe have some frozen food stocked up in your freezer?

  • Getting an extra change station setup downstairs/in living room. I couldn't leave each boy alone every time I needed to change the other.
    Infant Tylenol just in case.
bag for Oliver to take to stay with friend while I was delivering.

Yes! I used my pack and play for the first few months and used the bigger part to store clothes for the day because I couldn't keep running upstairs while leaving Connor downstairs.
