DH just bought me an iPad, but we wanted to do some research before buying a case. What do you have and why do you like/dislike it? They all seem to have good reviews and similar functions, although the price range seems all over the place.
He carries it around and listens to his music, but it's not as secure as it is in the Otter box. This EB one can strap on the back of the seat, though, for movies during car trips. That's a nice feature. We use both.
LifeProof - IMO much better for toddlers cause its not only shock proof and dirt/sand proof but, best of all, water proof!! Check out Hollie Shultz's Baby Gizmo video review.

We have the iGuy and like it. It doesn't cover the home button or have a screen protector but we didn't mind. We like it for the handles, shock protection and the fact that it stands on it's own. DD uses it and so do we. We never take it off.
Re: nbr: best case for iPad3
With toddlers? Otterbox for sure.
We also have this Eddie Bauer case from Target:
