Pumping Queens....I need your advice

BFing has not been something I have excelled at but we have continued because some BM is better than none. My question is this: I always start a feeding with nursing and then top off with formula. I am working full time starting next week. I leave home 8am and work 9 to 5. I get home by 6. How often should I pump during work hours? I am not trying to increase my supply as we will transition to FF eventually. Should I just pump for relief or so set pumping times? Any advice will be appreciated! I am wanting to avoid clogged ducts and mastitis...again.

Re: Pumping Queens....I need your advice

  • From what I understand, you should pump as often as your LO would eat. If that is not possible, then I would pump as often as you can. I probably wouldn't want to go longer than 4 hours though.

  • I pump every three hours, sometimes closer to every 2.5 hrs if I know I wont be able to pump every three.

I don't pump when I go to bed, I just pump longer first thing in the morning since I am so engorged. The price I pay for sleep :(

This. If I go longer than 4 hours my boobs start to hurt something fierce.
