Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Any Sleep Sack lovers...

Hi~

My almost 19 month old is still in his sleep sack.  He likes it and I love that he is covered all night.  He is almost too long, now, for the XL size.

Has anyone used those toddler ones with the feet holes?  I thought they were weird back when he was so little, but now I might be interested.  Thanks!

Re: Any Sleep Sack lovers...

  • I still use one and plan on doing so until next year. She doesn't use on in the summer because it is too hot, but she still loves her sleepsack at night the rest of time (used one last night for the first time in a long time becuase it was finally cool enough and she asked for it)

I have been lucky because she fit int he XL one until recently (used it on vacation this summer). I haven't tried the toddler ones with the holes for the feet. To me that totally defeats the purpose of a sleepsack. How are their feet supposed to stay nice and toasty. I mean I know you can use socks but still....

I actually got my sleepsacks in Europe (I'm from there) for the winter and for this coming year. They size by length and not by weight plus their winter ones are much nicer and thicker. So she is good until she is about 42". Once she moves to her own room next year (once cousin goes to college) she will get regular bedding and a big bed (she sort of has her own room but it is attached to our room so she is still only about 6 feet away from me).

So no help on the footed sleep sacks but definitly a sleepsack lover here at almost 2.5 Smile

  • Thanks. What kind/brand do you use? I am not sure the actual length but he is 33"ish so it has to be right around there.
  • The grobag ones are huge. I just got the 18 month size and I'm pretty sure I could almost fit in there, and it's not even the biggest size they make!
  • I used the toddler ones with the foot holes last winter.  They worked just fine.  I plan on using them again this winter.
  • Stick with Grobag or any of the European sack companies.  They are made super long, which is great if you want to prevent a toddler from climbing over a crib rail. :)

The cotton sleepsacks i bought here were all Halo Sleepsacks.. I liked them just fine but they just don't make the footless ones for toddlers. DD was 34" at her 2 year check in May.

These are the ones I use now....

the sleeved ones are the winter ones (and the sleeves come off) and they are really nice. DDs room gets into the high 50s/low 60s when it gets really cold here and she has always been plenty warm. The sleeveless ones are the summer ones and they're nice too. I realize this is In Dutch and that it probably won't do you any good but I thought I'd share anyway...

  • With us being on a budget when LO was tiny, I started making my own. They're not that hard if you sew at all. The toughest part (and it was way easier than I though it would be) was sewing the zipper in. DH half-jokingly requested an adult size one for Christmas last year.

  • We still use them at 12 months (cotton or fleece).  I am curious about the one with feet holes but haven't tried one.  I'm not ready to give them up since I know a blanket wouldn't stay put.

ETA: I have used Grobag and DreamBag.  I like both and they are certainly way longer and nice and quilted (I think warmer than fleece) but they are more expensive and DD was getting out of the ones that snap at shoulders so I'm back to Halo because they are just zippers.

  • We use the sleepsacks with footholes in them and love them.  Easier to walk in, still warm (with footie PJs) and plenty long. Also, if you want to try grobags, I believe they're on Gilt right now.
