Baby Showers

hostess gifts and ?

I have five hostesses for my baby shower and although I love them all, I can't afford to get big gifts.  Any ideas?  Also, how long does a baby shower usually last?  On the invite it says 12-2 which seemed really short to me but maybe I just haven't been to enough.  Thoughts?

Re: hostess gifts and ?

  • Two hours is a decent amount of time for a typical baby shower.

IMO you should write your hostesses personal notes or letters expressing how grateful you are and how much you care about them.  Then just attach it to a small gift that is in your price range.

  • Two hours seemed really short to me as well for a shower but from what I understand it's actually pretty common. I'm having a hard time with hostess gifts as well so I'm interested to see the suggestions.
  • 2 hours for the shower is plenty of time if there are no games. It depends also on how large the shower is since it might take longer for people to eat or for you to open gifts.

As for the hostess gifts...it certainly doesn't need to be elaborate (or nothing at all except a card containging a sincere thank you).  If you wanted to give something it could be a plant, a gift card to a restaurant they each frequent, gift card for a manicure, something homemade (cookies, pie, chocolate covered pretzels, etc), or you could have them all over for brunch, lunch or dinner.

  • Not sure if you are having a themed baby shower, but maybe something small that goes along with that? I will be getting each a card, and, since my shower is a gender reveal "What will it "bee"" I am getting each a small gift pack from Burt's Bees, or the Lush Mr. Bumble.  I also love the idea of making something for them! Who doesn't love homemade muffins or cookies.
