Stay at Home Moms

What are you wearing these days?

I'm FTM, LO is 3 month old. Since almost none of my pre pregnancy stuff fit, I'm wearing mainly yoga  or work out type of pants and cotton tees. My LO also has reflux and I end up covered in vomit pretty often.

I got 2 dresses, just simple, shift dresses but I'm planning to return it bc I don't think they'll be practical at home were I spent 95% of the time.

Im planning to go out more when LO gets a little bigger but I just picture myself with work out type of clothes now. What do othe moms wear if you are mainly at home? I stopped wearing just my pjs, need to be at least a little more put together or my mirror will break.

  • Tank tops and yoga pants.

  • T-shirts and yoga pants almost always when I'm at home.  I just forced myself to get some clothes that fit for being in public and bought 2 pairs of jeans, a pair of ballet flats, a few cute t-shirts, 2 plaid shirts, and a dress that I plan on wearing with boots and leggings/tights once it gets colder.

  • I wear a lot of outfits from LOFT...usually jeans and a "business casual" top, and ballet flats or tall boots in the fall, or a simple dress and tights and a sweater. I do wear my workout clothes when I'm actually working out used to be about 3x a week before I got pregnant, but I don't
wear workout clothes "just because". I also do my hair and makeup about 80 of the time, it just makes me feel better about myself when I am more put together. Oh and I'm also big on accessories, if I'm wearing jeans and a plain t shirt, I'll also throw on a funky necklace or scarf.

  • T shirts and gym shorts. Yoga pants when it gets Cooler.

I could not imagine actually getting dressed just to stay at home. I end up covered in food and im sitting on the floor all day. I'm going for comfort!

  • Oh, and to clarify, I rarely actually "stay home" all day.  Usually we are running errands or having playdates during the day, or meeting another SAHM for lunch, etc.  On the very rare day that we don't go anywhere during the day, then I'll just wear something casual.  I don't put on makeup or jewelry if I am actually not leaving the house.  It's just a very rare occasion that we stay home all day.

  • I wear casual clothes - yoga  pants or shorts and t-shirts or tank tops - 100% of the time at home. I will also admit that's what I mainly wore went I went out with DD for the first six or so months after she was born.  When she was seven months old and I had lost a good deal of my pregnancy weight, I bought a few nicer pairs of leggings and a few cute tops to wear when we go out shopping or out to visit friends and family.  Besides comfort, the other main reason I don't bother dressing up at home is because DH works from home and is always just in gym shorts and a t-shirt.  So if he's not dressing up, I'm not, either!

  • Shorts and a tank top (with sweater if necessary) mostly. Jeans if it's cooler. I was in the pajama phase too, haha. Then the sweat pants phase. But I find that I feel a lot better about myself (even with the extra pregnancy weight) if I take the time to shower every second day, do my hair, and wear something a little nicer (but still practical). You might just want to invest in a couple pants and tanks that fit your new size?

  • I'm at the end of my pregnancy..I just borke out my maternity jeans yesterday because it was cool enough outside. It was a nice break from my bella band lol I'm usually in my capri's or yoga pants, a tank and a hoodie if its cool enough. All about comfort these days :)

  • Usually I'm in casual dresses with or without a cardigan or jeans with a nursing top and dressy top over it. I'll walk around the house in the nursing top but throw a nicer shirt over it to take DS1 to and from school or to run errands.
I wear yoga pants when I work out but I'm not comfortable enough with my current post baby body to wear them around as my normal clothes.
  • At home it's a tee with shorts or yoga pants depending on the weather. When we go out (which is 3-4 days a week), I wear jeans/jeggings with a cute top, or a casual dress. I'm not a sneakers girl, so I wear a lot of ballet flats, and boots when it's cold. And ditto whoever mentioned accessories- a cute scarf or jewelry helps me feel more pulled together, they can really dress up a plain top and jeans to more of an "outfit".

But you're LO is still so little- wear what's comfy for now! Worry about your wardrobe when you're going out more on a regular basis.

  • I try to leave the house almost every day and it forces me to dress nice. I do my hair and my make up almost every day too. I just think that the day I look like crap I will run into somebody I know. Cool

  • If I'm going to be home all day, it's definitely yoga pants & tshirts.

But since I have an older daughter we tend to get out a lot.  I just graduated from my maternity stuff to regular clothes (shorts & capris).  But during the transitional period, I wore my Bella Bands to help make stuff fit a little better.  They can hold in your jiggly bits so you can maybe fit in your regular clothes or they can cinch your maternity stuff and make it fit a little more snugly.

  • I dress the same as I did before kids. Summer I live in sundresses - this summer I really liked the belted dress look. Fall I live in jeans, ballet flats, long tops and a cardigan or blazer. And i Love tall boots and skinny jeans. most of my stuff is basically Anthropologie, banana republic, etc type stuff (I actually just went a bit crazy at banana yesterday - they had a huge sale!).

To be honest I don't really get the "comfort" argument...to me a well fitting pair of jeans with a nice top is basically as comfortable as my gym clothes and it makes me feel better and look better to be well dressed. The only things I avoid wearing at this point are really short or tight skirts/dressed (hard to play on the floor) and high heels (although I do wear wedges, etc a lot).

  • I dress the same as I did before as well. Jeans, pants, skirts, dresses, feminine tops (my t-shirts usually have "stuff" on them - ruffles, pleats, etc.).

I do avoid high heels during the week, but will wear wedges, etc.

You will only see me in yoga pants if I'm working out........

  • I buy most of my clothing from Anthropologie and Modcloth.  I only wear work out clothes when I work out.  (I jog twice a day so early morning and in the evening.)

    I'm a simple gal.

  • Yoga pants, tshirts, and tanks. I have 1 pair of jeans that fit me right now, so I throw those on if we go out to run errands other than to the grocery store. However, on Sundays, My husband takes DD for the morning so I can actually look nice for church. Nice jeans and a nice top.

  • Now that it's summer, dresses and skirts. I'm not a shorts person.  In the winter I'll wear chinos and a t-shirt or blouse.  I like to be comfortable and wear functional clothes but still look good!

When DS was younger, at your LO's age, I was definitely a yoga pants and t-shirt girl! He also had reflux and I was always covered in vomit :/

I agree with that, and I'll say that for me, when I was wearing yoga pants and sweatshirts so that I was comfy, it was because my pre-pregnancy clothes didn't fit anymore. I wasn't confident in them and wasn't comfortable and it took me a long time to realize that it was okay to buy bigger clothes that fit well until I lost the baby weight. Once I did that, I felt just as comfortable in cute outfits as I did in sweats.

  • I am usually in yoga pants/carpis and a tank or tee with a sweatshirt or jacket, if its cool out. If we have somewhere to go or errands to run I'll put on jeans and a cute top. I always make sure to do my hair and make up everyday though no matter what. It makes me feel a little better even if all we are doing is hanging out around the house.

  • M-F I wear yoga pants and tank tops (or long sleeved fitted shirts in cooler weather). Everyday we go somewhere with lots of walking around like the playground/zoo/children's museum/YMCA so it's what's most practical. On the weekends when we go out as a family I wear jeans, a nice shirt, and either sneakers/dressy flats depending on what I'm wearing.

  • I'm not at home most of the day, even when DD was little. So I wear real clothes...dresses and sandals, jeans, a cute top and ballet flats in the Fall. Sometimes I will wear running shorts and a tshirt out to run errands.
  • I work PT in the mornings and usually wear a suit or dress. In the afternoon, I change into jeans and a cute top.

I have tried wearing athletic pants and a t-shirt before, but I just don't like it. Here is my problem...if I am going to spend 40 minutes to an hour making dinner and setting the table, then everyone sitting at that table is going to treat it like a special occasion, even me. That happens every day. So, every day I have an occasion to get dressed up.

I will say that immediately post-partum when I don't fit into any of my clothes, we are eating mostly pizza, and I have leaky boobs, I do stay in jammies a lot.

  • If I'm not going anywhere, sweatpants and a t-shirt. If I am going somewhere (depending on where), either a t-shirt or a nice top and jeans.

  • If I am at home I wear sweats, yoga pants, lounge pants with a t-shirt.  If going out (depending on the outing) I wear jeans, nice top, dress etc.
