Wrap questions

We have a moby for DS but he's already getting to heavy for it. I loved it when he was a newborn but now I'm looking for something else. I like the idea of a woven wrap or mei tai since we could do back carries and DS likes to see what is going on around him. Any recommendations? Also when can you start doing back carries? Most traditional carriers say 6 months but it seems like in a wrap or mei tai it's earlier. DS has pretty good head control.

As for when back carries are ok...in a woven wrap or mei tai you can do a high back carry as soon as you feel ready as baby will be supported by the curve of your upper back - I would suggest hands on help from an experienced wearer though if you can. With a buckle carrier baby needs to be able to sit unassisted (or be really close) since they sit so much lower on your back and can slump if they don't have good trunk control.
