Beco or Ergo?

The days of Moby wrap are on pause until 2 pops out! DS is 13 months now and we have been trying to use the stroller but he lasts in it 15 minutes or so. Now comes the part where I order an Ergo or a Beco. DS is 30" and at least 25 lbs. This carrier would need to fit me 5'5" and 130 lbs and growing slowly, as well as my DH 6'3" and 220 lbs. Which one would you recommend?

I can't speak for the Beco but I LOVE my Ergo. I wore DS until he was about 18 months. It really keeps all the pressure off your back. Yesterday I just ordered the infant insert for $20 on Amazon and plan to use it ASAP with my DD. Very satisfied with it and would totally recommend it.

Beco. We had an Ergo with DS1 for awhile, but both DH and I prefer the Beco.

I like the beco better. It seems to have more support and less bulk. Also, it fits my husband and the ergo didn't.

Are you looking for something for your 13 month old or your newborn - or something that will fit both? Honestly, I'd go with a larger bodied buckle carrier for a 13 month old if you plan to use it regularly for that child vs. a smaller baby. Both the ergo and the beco are great but are shorter - they are safe and work but a taller carrier will be more comfortable as kiddo won't be able to lean.

The Boba and Babyhawk Oh Snap are a bit taller in the same price range and easy to find. The Olives & Applesauce, Kinderpack, and Tula have even bigger toddler sizes - might run a tad more but can be found.

Oh and...I think you are going to find it difficult to find a buckle carrier that fits both you and your DH well given your height difference. Your best bet is to get one that fits you (and I'd encourage you to try before you buy) and know that it won't be as comfy for DH likely. You might also consider a mei tai (or even a woven wrap) as they are more forgiving of size disparities.

The Ergo sport is meant to fit smaller frames as well as larger frames. I am 5'5 125 pounds and this carrier fits me and my husband very well. the sport is also cooler in warm weather, and also the material is a lot softer than the original and the organic. the sport is awesome.

I'm roughly the same size as you are and my DH is roughly the same size as your husband. LO is 20lbs and 28". We have an Ergo and DD is very comfortable in it regardless of who is wearing her.

I love it, but I do sometimes wish I had a Beco because of the forward facing carry.
