Pregnant after 35

broke down and told my parents

sounds pathetic doesnt it.. but I was unsure how they would react, mom mostly.

First my daughter and I had to go be in the style show at Christopher and Banks clothing store.   After that we headed to my mom and dad to tell them the "big" news.

Well it went okay.  She didnt come at us with a blunt object.. but her first words were "ohh no what happened"  I was beginning to think I was gonna have to give her the "birds and bees" speach LOL.   I told her it was planned then she said "ohh,  well better you than your son"  ( my son is 22 years old and out on his own)...
not sure how to take it but at least I told her and it is over. LOL

I think this is the only major obstacle I have... now I can just sit back and let baby grow.

  • Glad you were able to tell your parents.  I'm trying to wait as long as I can (till 13 weeks if possible).  Last time I told my parents early on and my mom was so excited, she told all of my relatives.  Then I lost the baby, and had cousins telling me how sorry they were (I had no idea she had told them so I was a little blindsided).  My mom cannot keep a secret so I'm doing my best to keep quiet.

  • I wanted to wait till the 12 week mark because of my age more than anything but my husband was having a hard time keeping his mouth shut and we knew once we told our daughter that she would tell anyone and everyone... which so far she has proven me right.. Big Smile and she has only known for 1 day.  I figure by the end of church tomorrow the whole church will know wether they want to know or not.

I am not about to burst her (or my husbands) excitement by telling her to keep quiet, so we will just pray all goes well.

  • "Ohh no what happened"? I hope she comes around and is happy for you. The first word out of my mom's mouth was "Hallelujah!!" and she is not even religious. :-)

  • yea.. her reaction was a whole lot better than I though.  I try to take into consideration that my mom did NOT want any children.  I was a suprise, then to make matters worse I was a colicy baby.   I am an only child LOL

It doesnt really bother me.. I am just glad I got her told.

I have a huge support system in my church which have several advanced maternal age moms in it, who all have happy healthy children.
