Straw Sippy Cup that dosen't leak?

Hi, I've been looking for a straw sippy cup that dosen't leak. I've tried the munchkin ones and they claim is spill proof but it leaks every time. I'm skeptical of others that say it's leak proof/spill proof. Which ones have you used and did not have issues? Thanks!!

Re: Straw Sippy Cup that dosen't leak?

  • My Tommy Tippee never leak but she really has a hard time getting anything out of them. Almost like sucking through a straw with a hole. I tend to think it's user error but can't figure out what that error is.

With munchkin we seem to have a problems with it coming out of the straw, which can sometimes be fixed by losening the lid a bit.

The only cups we have not had any leaks or issues with are the hard spout cups with rubber stoppers.

  • We have this one and it doesn't leak because it has a cover. It is easy to suck the water out.

  • They don't exist.  You'll have less leaks if you either put only room temperature liquids in or use ice in whatever you put in.  The liquid warming up causes pressure and forces some of it up the straw.  You can periodically loosen the lid to let out the pressure (and then reseal), but they're still going to leak.  Even our Thermos straw cup leaks.  However, it's the best I've found for not leaking with the lid snapped down.

We have three of these.  They leak.  They're also masters at shooting warm milk out on their own.

  • I have used the Playtex Insulator Twist & Click sippy cups for a few years (both regular and straw) and have never had an issue with leaking.  I've tried others and these are the only ones that never leaked.  These are the only ones I will use now.

  • Tommee Tippee all the way. They're kind of a pain to assemble but if you do it right, they never ever leak. I've tried the Playtex ones and for some reason I cannot get it put together right so that it doesn't spill milk everywhere.

  • If you read the directions it says to only fill the cup 2/3 full.  This would help with the overflowing out the straw also but I am sure most of us fill them full.  I still fill them full myself knowing this but we only use them for water right now and the playtex spout ones for milk so I don't care if a little comes out.  I have had no major leaking with either playtex straw ones other than the warm milk.

  • I use those Playtex insulated ones the pp posted.

I have never had a leak with them and I put all sorts of stuff in them.

The trick is to make sure the little square tab on the bottom part of the straw lines up with the middle part of the straw where the stopper is attached.

Ive tried doing this and they still leaked. Idk why even half full or loosening the lid the fluid would still come up the straw. Im going to try the tommy tippee cups.

  • Have you tried the Nuby no-spill sippy cup. Ds loves them and he always throws his cup around. No spills so far.

Hmmm...that's so interesting to me. I haven't had one leak yet and it's been over 3 months.

I do pull the straw through until it pops and then squeeze the tip a bit. It seems to get the extra air out.

  • Thanks for all your great suggestions. I will try out a few different ones and see which one works. Smile

  • I had this same issue. I spent so much money on all kinds of different sippys, even the playtex ones that someone linked. I eventually bought avent cups. I got them at Walmart. They were around 10 dollars for two of them. I've only had them leak one time and that's becausemimdidnt have the lid on. They're awesome. I suggest trying those. The ones I seen were 2 packs of either pink or blue and theyrem not real tall
  • I'm not sure there's a cup out there that won't leak when LO plays his favorite cup game... turn it upside down and beat vigorously on ground.  :)

However, we're very happy with the Nuby straw cup, and I haven't had any experience with it leaking in regular use and play.
