Macy and I just got back from her 15-18 month check-up. On top of sitting there for 1.5 hours (during her naptime of course...), FOUR shots, and a never-ending bleeding finger from her iron/lead poke (seriously, blood gushing out from under the bandaids)... her pedi said he heard a heart murmur and wants us to see a cardiologist. He said it's more than likely nothing, but he wants to be sure. Obviously, I am freaking out and am tempted to visit Dr. Google, but I know I probably shouldn't. Does anyone's LO have a heart murmur, or does anyone know anything about it? Please no scary stories....

Re: Heart murmur?
This is only the second time we've seen this pedi, but he didn't hear it at her 1 year check-up, and her other pedi in Minnesota didn't hear it either (that I know of). Yeah he kept saying it's probably nothing, but it doesn't really make me feel better. I was wondering why he was listening to her heart for so long, then at the end of the check-up, he's like "has she ever had a heart murmur?" I was like... umm, no....
I've had a heart murmur my whole life and it's never affected my health or daily life in any way. I had to see a cardiologist a couple times in my childhood just to make sure everything was OK and run some tests, but that was the end of it. For some reason I never grew out of it like they thought I would.
I wouldn't worry about it if your doc told you not to. It's probably nothing.
I've found it best to stay away from Dr. Google :
I had a murmur when I was a kid and had a couple tests and nothing came of it, also, I always new that I had it as a kid and a few years ago I fainted had some checks a Dr thought he may of heard a murmur but all came back negative. I wouldn't worry unless he seemed really concerned and if he was he would be tested same day I am sure.
Though I would be a little worried if they said that to me about my son
