Help me pick a CD please?

I've wanted to cloth diaper since I was pregnant with DS but no one was really on board with it. I know NO ONE IRL that CD's. Anyway, I want to order one to try it out and maybe convert over. I was going to order from our bumpie I think its Smush tush? It seems there are different types. Can someone recommend to me what would we best for someone just starting out? Also, are there some kind of liners I could send with him to his daycare?

  • I only use pockets. But AI2 are great too!

  • Definitely order smush tush.  Her diapers are awesome. Get a pocket with an insert and a cover with 3 microfiber lined stay dry inserts (basically makes it Ai2) so that the insert can be placed directly against babys skin instead of  In a pocket. That way you can try both. Honestly, they're both awesome. I love her stuff.
  • I also want to add that I have tried a bunch of different cloth diapers before smush tush and they are one of my top favorites. For a cheap stash builder, Sunbaby and Alvas are great too.

  • I started with 3 pockets around 8 months.  We have since grown to 25 pockets, 3-4 AIOs and 2 covers (lots of prefolds).

I think pockets are the simplest for starting out.  AIOs are nice because you don't have to stuff, but they take forever to dry.

If you are looking at Smush Tush (I LOVE mine).  I'd go with a pockets or maybe even her AI2 system.

okay what is the difference in a pocket and AIO? Im not up to date on the CD lingo at all. Lol so if I just want to try one I should start with a pocket? Is a pocket just the CD itself?
  • An AIO has the absorbency inserts all sewn in, so it's literally all in one piece. Nice not to have to stuff, but I find my AIOs take at least 24 hours or more to dry hanging up inside, and with daycare I just don't have enough diapers to have enough to use/send to daycare/have half my stash hanging up wet.

the pockets are basically a shell (plastic on the outside to keep them from soaking through, usually something stay-dry on the inside like microfleece to keep them from having the wetness against their skin), and then separate inserts that you stuff inside to actually soak everything up. You can put the inserts in the dryer, hang up your shells, and have everything dry in a few hours.

  • I have all pockets. LOVE them!

I have a mix of BG 3.0, BG 4.0, Kawaii, Bububibi. My favorites out of all of them are my BGs. I feel they fit the best.

In fact, I have a brand new one with "tags" for sale.
