Post c/s support band ?'s

hey ladies,

I did not get one of these after my first c/s and am curious to see what your experiences are with them. I didn't even know about them.

So, a) why get one? (not a derrogatory quesiton, I'm sincerely curious b/c if it's beneficial?sign me up) b) where do you get them? c) how long do you wear them?

Re: Post c/s support band ?'s

  • I have never gotten one (have had 3 c-sections and will have #4 soon), but I am thinking about buying one for this c-section.

I think it'll help with recovery and keep me "together"...........

  • I had one and honestly it was more of a PITA than anything.

  • I bought the Belly Bandit for this c/s. My OB said I could wear it while still in the hospital, but I saved it until I came home. I put it on at 4 days pp. It definitely helped hold things in. I found it to be most useful at night. I was so uncomfortable laying in bed and it would hurt to change positions. The BB helped give me support, so I ended up sleeping better. I do kind of feel like I wasted my money, though, because I'm 9 days pp now and it is too big on me. I stopped wearing it at 7 days pp. I don't think it was quite worth the $50 I paid for the few days that I wore it.

I bought mine at a local baby store.

  • I haven't had my CS yet, but I am planning to find a support band before we have to go in (assuming babies are not both head down by some miracle so I can have a VB) - after recent surgery for my ovary, I've felt like I have no abdominal support and it is very painful...and they didn't even cut into my uterus. I'm hoping that having a support band will help relieve some of the discomfort for those first couple of weeks.

  • I will definitely be getting one this time around. I had one with #2 and it was AMAZING. Most hospitals do have them if you ask for them.

  • I had a belly bandit and I really liked it. I actually ended up getting 2. I used one for 4 weeks PP and still felt like I needed the support but it was getting too big so I bought the next size down and used that one for a couple more weeks. The support was great, I was also more comfortable BFing while wearing it, and everything stayed in place while moving around. I will definately be using it again this time.
