So we think I have endo. Doc gave me some options (my simplified versions of that advice): 1) Six months of Lupron, then TTC again; 2) Lap surgery to diagnose and remove whatever yuk he finds in there, then TTC again; 3) No treatment, probably no pregnancy, and wait for menopause and hope the pain subsides.
#3 is not an option I'm comfortable with, I'm in too much pain. My grandma died from uterine cancer, and that makes me nervous.
For those who have already experienced this, what is your advice about options 1 and 2?
Re: Endo advice, WWYD?
I had lap surgery in April...my doctor had found a cyst with ultrasound. The plan was to remove it and continue with TTC. But he found mod/severe endometriosis and an endometrioma (which I had no idea I had) during the surgery. If I had never gone to a RE and had the ultrasound who knows how much time would have passed without treatment. It's probably the main reason that I have not been able to get pregnant.
I would have a hard time waiting for another six months while on Lupron before TTC, especially at our age...time is an issue. And there is no guarantee that the Lupron will help. If you are in that much pain, I think you should have the lap surgery even if it is just to diagnose or rule-out endo. There might be something else that is causing you pain. The inflammation from endo (on ovaries/fallopian tubes) can affect TTC.
IVF #1 ET 1 d3 embryo 10/30/11 BFP
3 Embryos frozen (1 d5, 2 d6)
DS born 07/29/12
FET #1 ET 1 d5 embryo 02/10/15 BFN
FET #2 1 d6 embryo didn't survive thaw, transferred last d6. CP
I pretty much came to the same conclusion as you tow, at my age 6 months of Lupron seems dumb. And I really need to get rid of this pain. Surgery makes me nervous, but I trust my doc and know it needs to be done.
Thanks ladies!
Hi! My advice is have the endo removed. There are two different frames of thought on the issue when one is trying to conceive. Some REs believe no surgery and move straight to IVF. Others believe the removal of what they can will increase fertility efforts for a couple. Alot also depends on what stage you are. You can have the Lap done and have none of the diseased removed if you feel the removal would be to detrimental to the your uterus. I decided to have a Laparascopy. 1) I wanted a firm diagnose of the disease. It can be assumed one has it based on symptoms that one experiences, but the only real diagnose is through a Lap. 2) My physician believes surgery and the removal of the endo is a very successful option. Many people can't afford to go through IVF and insurances most likely won't cover the drugs and procedures of IVF so surgery is the best option for those patients.
I'm 29 and my DH is 30. I have stage 3. Before the Lap i had two blocked tubes, endo on my colon, tubes, and ovaries. I had 90% removed and now TTC naturally. If no pregnancy in 6 months we will start with IVF most likely.
I wish the best of luck. Endo = a long road of TTC for most couples. Prayers and Faith are what are getting me through this right now!!! GL!!!
