So, on our 6th grade team at school we have a new teacher who is due on Thanksgiving. Love her, and we're throwing her a shower on Wednesday. I already went to BRU (Yay for excuses to do that!) and got her an item off her registry PLUS a non-pink sleeper since she's not a pink person...just like me. I also contributed $10 to her giftcard. BUT, I have a bag of stuff we were given that we never got around to returning, mostly because we couldn't figure out where it came from. It a few onesies, 2 receiving blankets, a set of 6 socks, and some newborn mitten. Some of it's pink, which I know isn't her thing either, but it's all brand new and she's having a girl too...
So, should I just give it to her? I could just goodwill it or take it to Once Upon a Child, but I thought I would give it to her since she may want/need it. It's just been sitting here for 5 months. Is that tacky? Since I don't know where it came from, am I just passing along the crap that I don't want so it can sit at her house for 5 months too??
Help me out here.
Re: Do you think this is ok??
If you are close, give it to her. Maybe ask her if she wants it. Maybe not during the shower.
If not, take it to Once Upon a Child and cash in.
Good for you to think it over, get her stuff on the registry, and not just regift (so common!!)
Personally, I would add the non-pink items from your personal stash to her gift...then, at a time other than the baby shower (regular work day), bring her the pink bag and simply say, "Hey, I know you're not much of a pink person, but if you're interested in any of these, I thought I'd offer. If you don't want any of it, I can just take it to Goodwill!"
Then, she knows these aren't your main gift, they're unused handmedowns that you're happy to pass on to the next mama-to-be.
That's just me!
I cry a little tear because my horrible work load has made bumping non-existent except on Friday nights. Hence, I missed box of crap elf time and have the sadz.
But, I will definitely offer it to her later, after the shower, and if she doesn't want it I'll cash in at OUAC
This. If she doesn't, there is always Freecycle.org!
