April 2012 Moms

So I am sitting here alone

Listening to the monitor.   DH is at work.  Which kind of freaks me out because I am afraid I will hear a voice that is not my daughter on the monitor.

It reminds me of the shortest horror story ever written called "Knock" by Fredric Brown.  The whole thing is:

The last man on Earth sat alone in a room. There was a knock on the door...

What do you think is scary?

Re: So I am sitting here alone

  • Everything. I am such a pansy. The lame ass haunted house in town scares the sh!ts outta me. I think the most scared I've ever been was during that movie "the strangers"

  • Stuff like that freaks me out too, but be warned, sometime monitors pick up other frequencies, like radios or walkie talkies. So if you do hear a voice, it's not necessarily someone from the beyond. Smile

That would still creepy me out.  I am already 99% sure my house is haunted.

  • Why do you think your house is haunted! I wanna hear stories!
  • Ok, I'm such a scaredy cat, that I won't answer the door if someone rings my bell unannounced.  I always scream during scary movies too.  I just get too into it.  I get anxious when the music is foreboding.

  • Don't ever watch White Noise. I only turn the monitor on right before I go to bed, otherwise I get too freaked out. Ghost stuff scares the pants off me. I've always loved horror movies so I went to see The Grudge not thinking anything of it and I know most people thought that movie was stupid, but I was SCARRED. I wanted to leave after 20 mins and scenes still pop in my head at night. I slept with the lights and TV on for a week :/

  • I run up the stairs from the kitchen to the bedroom when all the lights are out because I'm scared something is going to get me!

  • I'm the biggest scaredy (sp?) cat of them all. I had to get DH to walk me down to the car before I went to Walmart at 10 pm a couple of night ago because someone might get me (you never know). He made fun of me.

  • I never watch any scary movies. They all make my imagination run wild. I also hate ghost stories, especially since my mom used to tell me about how our preacher's family had a ghost and their neighbors had a poltergeist. No thank you, not for me. I'll just stick with watching old reruns of "The Golden Girls."

  • Okay Stories!

First.  We bought the house from an estate.  The previous owner died IN THE HOUSE. I don't know where, but there was a curious stain in one of the bedrooms.

Then things fall of shelves for no reason.  Example: We didn't have much cabinet room in the kitchen, so we got a cheap bookshelf to be our 'pantry'.  One shelf, no kidding, lifted out and crashed on the ground.  Just one shelf, not disturbing the shelves above or below it.

And the animals.  Staring at nothing.  All staring at the SAME spot where nothing is.

    image

He isn't looking at me.  He is looking right BEHIND me.

And now DD stares at nothing, along with the animals.

But she also talks to ceiling fans.

ETA: Our house is 200 years old.  I would be surprised if it wasn't haunted.

If that was my house, I would put it on the market and peace out!  I am a HUGE baby when it comes to "ghostly" things!

Yeah this is me. Whenever DH and I watch shoes about haunted houses, we both say we would move and never look back. I know that's not realistic financially, but I can't live with ghosts.

Ok, I wasn't scared until I got to the part with animals staring at nothing. I think I'm going to have nightmares tonight.

This picture still creeps me out.

    And you're welcome.

You can never go wrong with the Girls! Traveled down the road and back again...

And I'm a major wimp. I don't watch scary movies and HATE nights DH is at work!

  • I get the heebie jeebies listening to the monitor sometimes, too. It doesn't help that we picked up some other baby's mobile music once--it was creepy!

  • I never get scared of movies EVER but, sometimes I just feel afraid. so I turn off my lights and leap into bed like im being chased by 20 wild dogs...im afraid somethign will grab me from under my bed. I also MUST have my bathroom and closet doors shut at all times.

Sometimes I wait for DH to come to bed cause i'm too afraid to sleep alone.

I am not so concerned about the beyond as I am worried that if we can hear somebody else, they can also hear US. Maybe the night the hear us is when we are talking about where we keep the spare key, and they burgle the house, you know?

    OMG. THIS.

I don't think it helped that Liv Tyler's character had my name.  Hearing it over and over in the context of a horror movie (a horror movie that severely messed me the heck up) made it worse.
