Last week I saw the MFM (i.e. high risk OB) who told us that because of my Unicornuate Uterus, if baby hasn't turned head down by 37 weeks, she would definitely not recommend doing an ECV and she would absolutely not allow me to attempt a vaginal breech delivery. So she recommended scheduling a C-Section.
Then today, I saw my regular OB who had a totally different opinion. She said that at 37 weeks, as long as I have enough fluid, she would be willing to attempt an ECV, and if it's successful, I can have a vaginal delivery whenever after that I end up going into labor. But for now, we tentatively scheduled my C-Section for October 16th in case we decide not to do the ECV or in case the ECV is unsuccessful.
Now I just have to weigh the risks and benefits and decide how important it is to me to have the possibility of attempting a vaginal delivery... but it's hard to reconcile the two doctors' very different opinions. One said absolutely not, no way, never and the other said we can try it. I figure worst case scenario, I have a C-Section... the ECV just gives me the possibility of attempting a vaginal delivery.
Any opinions? Anyone have experience with an ECV?
Re: Tentatively Scheduled for a C-Section... but Confused
and ECV can be dangerous anyways. I would have a difficult time knowing all the risks AND having the high risk OB say no, and being ok with going through with it.
BUT, I'm also supportive of c-sections. Having a vaginal birth was never something I felt like I needed so for me, to go with the c-section would be the easy and obvious choice.
Currently going through our second deployment. Can't wait for Zoe to meet her daddy!
This is how I feel also.
I totally agree!
If it was me, I'd look into this perhaps while trying the spinning babies exercises. If that didn't work I'd go for the c-section. As PP said, having one Dr. say absolutely no way would be enough to scare me away from the ECV. I think they have there place, but it can start labor or even put baby into distress, which just wouldn't be worth the risk for me when there are other safer options.
