If I don't post after Tuesday, it's because I'm in jail for murder (kind of long rant)

I don't lose my temper often, but I'm on a high boil toward my doctor's office.

Here's the backstory: this year, our insurance company started requiring annual preventative office visits. If we don't get these visits, we have to pay a surcharge. The sticky point is that to prove you got the visit, the doctor's office has to fill out a form, including test results, etc. This isn't a long form. It's one piece of paper, both sides. Most of it is putting in a number and initialing. Easy, right?

So I had my visit June 8. The doctor's office sent in the paper the following week, but, only faxed the first side and didn't even properly fill out the back side. This isn't a hard form to fill out. There are clearly labeled plain white boxes with directions next to them.

So we wait for it to go through insurance and they tell us it wasn't done properly. We give my doctor's office another copy at the end of July. This time, we follow up in the middle of August. After calling several times over several days and getting the "I don't know, let me check; I'll call you back in a few days and let you know" runaround, we decided to wait a couple of weeks to see if insurance was just still processing it.

Now, insurance doesn't have it and the doctor's office has no idea what happened to it. So after keeping me on hold for forever (and they also do cosmetic treatments, so I got to listen to all kinds of ads essentially telling me how ugly I am without botox), they said, "well, why don't you make an appointment and she can fill it out for you then."

If they try to make pay for this appointment I'm going to go off. Either way, I'm looking for a new doctor.

  • This sounds like straight up bullsh*t. Why do insurance forms always end up being such a problem?

  • Good luck!

I'm still fighting insurance about DS's charges from BIRTH!!!!  Insurance companies are such a PITA!!

  • The thing is, this time, it isn't the insurance company, but the dr's office that's giving me the runaround--although last year it was insurance. I even told the receptionist that on Tuesday when I go in, I want a copy of my records so 'i can find a new doctor, and she said, "Actually, we charge for those." Fine. I'll find a competent doctor's office and you guys can go back to peddling botox.
